Premium squads have a scaling issue.
For the low-low (not really) price of 10-40 USD, you have a squad that comes with max stats/perks, maxed weaponry and equipment, and a hefty premium boost for using the squad.
Except, you have limited squad sizes and fixed weaponry.
As a result, if you play a campaign long enough, you will eventually get a squad that has a larger squad size and better weaponry than premium counterparts, with a few exceptions. Thus, your rather expensive squad turns into more or less something to farm exp for orders with.
My proposal is simple. Instead of selling premium squads, you sell packs of premium soldiers with fixed weaponry, and the ability to be integrated into any existing squad with the correct slot to accomodate such soldiers.
The premium bonus will apply only to exp accrued by the premium soldier, and towards squad exp.
What this means is that you are buying soldiers with preset and fixed weapons with an exp bonus.
This means that:
- Premium squads will no longer be undermanned, but instead a part of an existing squad, which also means they no longer take up a specific squad slot in your roster.
- Premium soldiers will aid in the progression of regular campaign squad levels (II, III and IV squads, especially).
- Premium soldiers will have value, even if new campaign levels are added, and new squads are introduced.
- You can mix and match premium weapons with other premium weapons, or other regular campaign weaponry, instead of being a homogenous squad.
This should address the concern that premium squads are useful only until a certain point, and encourages their use.
I propose selling them in packs of 4 for assaulters, 3 for gunners, 7-9 for riflemen, etc.
Hopefully, this retroactively applies to everyone who previously purchased premium squads, but it could apply to newer ones.
