PPSh41 Obrez Logic

Fun fact, out of all the submachine guns that Germany has, the PPSh41 Obrez has the highest velocity. Not a single weapon ties with its 450 m/s velocity.

I’m including Gold Order weapons, Event weapons, and all those other unique weapons.

This is funny to me, since it probably has the shortest barrel length out of all those SMGs.

well 7.62 Tokarev is much faster than 9mm.
what did you expect?

Its like claiming German bias, because the slowest velocity German SMGs still is faster than the fastest 45acp US SMG.

True, the cartridge has a higher base velocity being a (usually) lighter bullet and (potentially) a greater powder charge, but barrel length has a significant effect on bullet velocity, and (usually) you’ll get more velocity out of the same cartridge with a longer barrel.

It should be noted, in addition that firing a cartridge with a pretty spicy standard loading like the 7.62 Tokarev out of a truncated barrel is likely to result in an impressive muzzle flash due to less of the powder being burnt up in the barrel. You wouldn’t want to use those things at night, to be sure.

According to the resource; all the SMGs firing the 7.62 Tokarev have a (presumably muzzle) velocity of 450 m/s.

That said, the real world muzzle velocity is 488 m/s according to Wikipedia. Taking a few centimeters off the barrel would probably not reduce the muzzle velocity below 400 m/s and it’s effect on gameplay is minimal. So they probably just left it alone.
