I do not really mind most of the changes that the “new era” update brought with it (though I am far from happy with some of the choices that were made, but I posted about that already when that update came out).
What I am really missing though is the ability to select on which theatre of war I feel like playing - currently you are practically randomly put on any of the theatres - so one can end up on a Pacific map and on the next round one it can be a Tunesia map and then a Normandy map.
While some players obviously do not seem to mind this switching from one theatre of war to a different one, I really do not like it. Being frustarated with that random selection, I now ended up just “leaving” the match, when I am put in a theatre of war that I do not feel like playing in. This makes me sad as it is something I never (!!!) did before and honestly never had to, as I was able to select where I wanted to play in the old system.
Therefore I would really like the selection of the theatre of war to be reinstated in one form or the other. Here is one example of how this could work:
-
assign a CLEAR and EASY to see marking to all units, showing to which theatre of war they actually belong to
-
make the selection of maps you play on connected to the units you field
Example One:
Slot A: US Tank Unit [Normandy]
Slot B: US Infantry Unit [Normandy]
Slot C: US Sharpshooter Unit [Normandy]
Slot D: US Engineer Unit [Normandy]
=> Would give you a 4x 25% chance to get the Normandy maps (i.e. you get 100% Normandy maps, then the further matchmaking would put you in a match with the same tier of weapons you have selected).
Example Two:
Slot A: US Tank Unit [Normandy]
Slot B: US Infantry Unit [Tunesia]
Slot C: US Sharpshooter Unit [Normandy]
Slot D: US Sharpshooter Unit [Pacific]
=> Would give you a completely random map (as you have units from all theatres of war + two of the same specialized Units) only dependend on the tier-matchmaking
So each selected “theatre of war” unit would mean a 25% chance (if we use a non-premium account as in the example, with a premium account the % chances would be adjusted accordingly).
