In berlin i landed 32 rounds from the erma mp44 into the back of a soviet and i got a shield icon, to where he then turned around and stabbed me… please explain how this is possible, no skill issue, no missing, every round landed up close, he didnt even appear to be wearing that dumb ass armor they gave the soviets. This also happened when using the premium volksquad and head shotting other soviets i had snuck up on.
He was spawn protected. You cannot kill soldier that just spawned in the game (except if they spawned on a rally point)
It is for every maps in the game. Be aware that once the attackers captured a point, the spawn will change and thus they might spawn in the face of the defenders.
It has been implemented to prevent spawn camping.

is this a new feature? I remember getting slaughtered on spawn constantly in Tunisia.
No, it has been in game from the start I am pretty sure. But the spawn only last for a few seconds.

Adding the shields happened ages ago… at least as far back as October last year from posts in the forum mentioning it!
It only applies on the default spawns - player-created spawn points have no protection.
ETA: protection for rally point was removed in May 2021!!
