Please add punisment to deserters

As the picture shown, being deserter is having negative influence to the game. More serious punishment should be added to the people who quit the game. I suggest suspending the people who escape from the game for five minutes.

Already discussed a lot of times.

TLDR deserters don’t want to be forced to play matches they don’t enjoy, since it’s a game after all, and Devs aren’t going to introduce harsh punishments that might drive players away from the game for good.

TLDR? what is this

Yeah I’d probably just quit playing the game if I had to wait that long for a new match. I leave matches all the time if the teams look unbalanced, or if I get the bug that causes your entire first squad to be unmovable upon spawning.

Instead of punishing deserter, why not reward those player who join when someone desert.

This is a Bot problem. Stop focusing on the symptome, focus on the source.
Let me introduce with a method I do at work when I spend don’t half of my day on the forum because it’s august.

Let’s do a Why-Why:

  • Why people leave a game at beginning? Because teams are sometimes unballanced.
  • Why it team are sometime unballanced? Because there is too much bot on one side.
  • Why there is too much bot on one side? Because there is more player on one side than on the other.
  • Why there is more player on one side? Some nation are more attractive because of the campaign level(Berlin Axis number 1), maps(USA most of the time in attack position), or general experience(stalincity).

We have identify one possible root cause.
=> We need to improve campaign level system.

not only that, some times its just there are stacks of sweat lords on one team that is completely stomping and seal clubbing the other team
maybe some think like what WOT does where only time stacks are put into public games is when there is a equal stack on the other team, or just put into a stack only game

I used to have that bug, apparently it was triggered if I tried to move “too early” before all assets had finished loading.

To avoid that, I just took the habit of waiting a few more seconds after spawning, and not moving until all textures and stuff were in place.

(I later upgraded to SSD hard drive, and haven’t suffered that bug ever since.)

I said it before and I still think deserters should get a 5 min wait time for leaving 2 games in a row early.

Where is historical accuracy?
If you fleed the bettlefield, you was shot. Deserter should lost one random member of their squad, for treason.

But seriously, no FPS every put sanctions for deserter. There is a reason why. It’s not league of legend. It’s a FPS.

We should work on why people desert: balance, bot, map, mods, campaign level etc…

Yes they did, you can’t join a match in COD if you leave too many times and it works perfectly.

this isnt cod

I don’t remember it but I trust you.
I stop playing COD when it was going downhill. 10 years ago, after black ops1 or 2.

Maybe for repetitive desertion then… but does it really hapen often?
I think I deserted two time in a row once, because I didn’t want to play Destruction mod.
Except that…

I think it is right to give xp bonus to replacement who filled the vacancy rather than penalty for desertion. Maybe x1.2~1.3 xp

One desertion causes a series of desertions. The latecomers realize they’re a substitute for the deserters and leave. If Enlisted gives them an xp bonus, don’t give up the game and continue
It would be a good idea to award a medal for them.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. We need to fix the cause not the symptom.

For one of them, a map and mode voting system like MWO would start fixing some of the issue.
Couple that with a MM that in the very least ensures enough human players per side to prevent the stomps will also help.

The only time I leave a game is when I see that I’m 1 vs 5 or some such nonsense, and usually only on Conquest at that. There is no physical way for me to be on multiple points at once and trust bots to do the same .

Mmmh

Because:

I’ll desert if I want, even if there’s punishment. Bring it.

As @Shiivex said just after:

Like if I could be bothered about what random names on the internet feel when I connect in Enlisted to entertain myself.

Don’t punish the people that leave.
Reward the people That stay.

If somehow they come with a timer that I can’t join after leaving a match I rather disconnect from the game and proceed with my life than wasting time looking to a clock.

I m here to have fun, if map, mode, what ever isn’t fun on my book, I don’t care about your personal feelings that I should stay on a team with people I don’t know or care just because your opinion.

Some have fun roleplaying
Some have fun trying to be better than everyone
Some have fun trying to win every match
And so on

I just want to kill bots and relax after a work day. I have nothing to prove to no one. Neither carry or be extra weight on a team that is yet to find the w key.

My fun. First. Always

I don’t think the issue is desertion. I think it’s this:

Look at your team: 5 Marshals, two lower ranks visible.
Look at the enemy team: Out of the 14 people visible who left, only 2 are Marshals and 2 are Generals.

So, at least 50% Marshal team against atleast 71% lower-NCO or Enlisted rank team*.
Great matchmaking.
*Going off the people visible, I understand there is 3 people on each team we can’t see in the image.

Adding a desertion penalty only fixes one issue, and actually causes a player-loss.
Fixing matchmaking solves several issues in one, and might cause higher player-retention.
