Many aircraft across the board have reduced effectiveness when engaging ground vehicles with their cannons and machineguns due to a lack of gun convergence. Pilots must direct only half of their ammunition into targets because the distance between their guns disallows both sides of their weaponry to be properly centered onto a single target. Adding a convergence distance of 250 meters to all aircraft with wing-mounted weaponry would make strafing runs more effective and reduce the reliance of bombs and rockets to kill enemy vehicles, which would reduce the amount of explosives being dropped from planes.
I would like to being able to set our own gun convergence like in warthunder
Not likely. If you have bombs you are going to use them, and generally before guns.
I think the idea is it might make people do a couple strafing runs before going back for more bombs.
To that end, render distance will need to be greatly improved also
Agreed, currently infantry do not render until you are only about 200-300 meters away, that’s way too close.
You are right, bombs and rockets will be used first, but once they have been dispensed most pilots immediately turn and race back to resupply. If planes were a little more capable in attacking ground targets like APCs with their guns then they might hang around and perform more gun runs instead of looping back to resupply for more bombs.
Not just render distance, but machine gun rounds need a range increase. They disappear after maybe less than a 1000m?
I know I’d certainly shoot tanks and infantry a little more if I could reasonably guarantee a consistent strike pattern on targets when I’m out of bombs.
Yeah honestly I just burn off ammo on my first and second pass before rearm. Mostly because sticking around to do gun runs with how terrible the rendering is, you almost entirely rely on your team spotting enemy groups, otherwise its a case of picking off 1-2 enemies on a pass.
Only exception I make is if I see an APC in which case I gun run till I kill it.
I dont strafe unless I am relativley certain the sky is mine. Strafing just draws attention to yourself (Tracers) and puts you in a vulnerable position.
Air dominance first, then strafing is fun. But yes, convergence and draw distance please
Also AMMO belts so I can use stealth ammo lol
