Please add an option to disable anti-aliasing

As we all know, TAA anti-aliasing causes significant blurring, which is very noticeable in this game. Everything slightly distant becomes blurry, which is quite frustrating. Although NVIDIA DLSS offers static clarity, the image turns into a mess as soon as there’s any movement. In this game, only SSAA provides a clear picture, but it comes at the cost of huge input lag and frame drops. My graphics card is an RTX 3080 TI, and the frame rate drops to around 60 to 140 fps.

So why don’t you simply provide players with the option to disable anti-aliasing? Low-end players have to endure both the frame rate drops caused by enabling anti-aliasing and the significant blurriness of TAA anti-aliasing. Why make players suffer like this?

it’s obvious why since modern devs are so incompetent that a lot of graphics effects won’t property work without temporal AA you can’t disable it, it will also introduce a lot of shimmerings. Unless you play at the minimum graphics then you play with TAA off and FXAA on.

Wow, why can you turn it off in War Thunder? In War Thunder, there’s barely any blurriness—everything looks really sharp after you turn off anti-aliasing. This seems like a pretty basic mistake.

Older engine, current Enlisted engine was built with temporal AA from the first second, remember Enlisted is pretty much a mod for the Cuisine Royale and that game also was married to the TAA

This is really bad for an FPS game. As soon as the distance is a bit further, characters blend in with the foliage. I’ve lost count of how many times this has happened. Is it possible for us to get a version where we can turn off anti-aliasing? Will the game update its engine at all?

I know but game was designed with TAA and console multiplatform in mind from the first second. I wonder if we could modify SSAO to render at 1440p instead of 4k or maybe you need to launch the game at 480p and then enable SSAO :rofl:

You have enlisted.config.blk but no matter what i do with it, it always bounces back to TAA or DLSS/FSR.

Even if they upgrade Enlisted engine to Dagor 6 i doubt anything would change except few upgraded effects, actually game may be already at Dagor 6 since that thing added DLSS to War Thunder. I wish DF wouldn’t be so secretive about version of engine they use. And also let us to play with TAA off.

There was a neat trick with SSAO in WT but it doesn’t seem to work in Enlisted

I’ve been using it to play at 1440p while still having nice fps and amazing visual clarity when compared to TAA and FXAA

Ok managed to turn on FXAA instead of garbage TAA. All you need to change one line in the enlisted.config.blk which is:

antiAliasingMode:i=1

1= FXAA
2 = TAA
3 = Temporal SR
4 = DLSS
8 = SSAA

And then put that file at the read only so the game won’t try to change it.

If you want to change game settings then you need to untick it and change them in game or even better in the bak file.

Sadly even with it being put at 0 it won’t let you to stop using TAA

FXAA is the best of the worst when it comes to the AA implementations in this game, it removes most of the TAA/DLSS/FSR ghosting while still having similar and honestly dreadful image clarity. I wish it would change in future and let us to play at native or with just SMAA that is superior to any of those garbage AA implementations. I should probably make a guide now.

TAA (high settings):

FXAA (high settings):

I tried FXAA, and the improvement is not obvious. Damn, it’s clear that completely disabling TAA would be the best solution. Disabling TAA could even result in higher frame rates and lower input lag, but the developers didn’t give us that option.

Uh, I found that setting it this way doesn’t work. The game regenerates another enlisted.config.blk file in the Enlisted\content\enlisted folder with antiAliasingMode:i=2, and if I change it, the game gets stuck on the startup screen downloading files…

That’s why i told you to mark that file as read only. It works for me just fine.
