Why put the time and effort into crafting elaborate defenses only to have a high teir 100kg bomb land 100 feet away and still wipe out everything? Same with artillery which is a joke.
The only reason to play engineer is to put down rally points. And its boring
Lol glad you made this thread. The MGs nests that are wayyyy down the tech line are completely demolished by one arty strike. In a house? Doesnt matter the gun just rattles off the mount. Only choice is to spend 45 more seconds rebuilding it. No point to even have engineer 2s
Yes, even a grenade can destroy a sandbag wall (imagine how painful that is to watch for the soldiers who had to fill up all those bags!) they need more hitpoints.
You could build an AA gun and wait for it to be destroyed by a bomber (a few seconds at the most), then you’ll be left with some solid defence.
How high in the air can you point the gun on the MG nest?
If you’re able to use it to attack low flying planes it could double as a second type of AA gun.
This is not minecraft and its fun how the game is right now, we dont want portatil bunkers everywhere, ther are already milions of places to set up a good defense. A well placed sandbag can save you the day, dont ask for more
Engineer’s AA is extremely useful for massacring enemies in Assault gamemode, but engies in non-engie squads are only really useful for radio in my experience.
Also a protip: if you have more than one engie you can order them to finish constructing buildings you placed so you can do something else.
Tank traps are extremely effective!
AA seems pretty good from what I can tell, and so does the AT gun.
I just use them as a regular Infantry Rifle Squad that can place a bunch of tank traps to block corridors.
The German tanks seem to eat 6-7 rounds of ap no matter where i put them, and how does an explosive pack sitting on the roof of a panzer 4 do nothing to it. It feels like the puma and panzer 4 are over powered compared to the Stuart and the Sherman. i feel completely useless when i manage to crawl up to a tank and set explosives on the deck and then watch it say no casualties. Or when my Stew shoots a pump 6 times in the side right at ammo and it does nothing, he shoots me once and im dead.
I’ve been one shot by Stuart’s many time in my puma. It’s all based on luck and where your shot managed to go. I wouldn’t say any of the tanks are overpowered compared to others besides the earlier ones vs the late game ones.
Engineers in an engineer squad are anything but useless. The MG nest is great, but the AT cannon and AA gun are nearly as good for dealing with infantry. The AT cannon is especially effective once you learn the splash radius of the HE, and you get good at aiming, on many of the longer range areas of maps.
Sandbags are situational, and honestly the best use for them is to cover windows with them to block off entry through such.
Barbed wire placed at entrances is great for bogging down intruders and defending a cap, as they’re often not blown up very quickly.
Tank traps are not easily gotten rid of and can be used to block off routes tanks might take, slow down someone on a cap point, etc.
And ultimately, the ability to set down spawn points is essential to victory on maps.
Yes, sandbags could probably use a buff and take more than a single explosive impact to destroy, perhaps 2 or 3, but otherwise fortifications are great. Just don’t leave them in the open if you can help it, if you intend your fortifications to last, but most of the time, they’re there to simply be a force multiplier situationally for short periods of time.
Generally speaking that will mean that you’re also dead at the same time, assuming situational use in the open. So it doesn’t matter so much, they’re there as force multipliers for the moment, not some permanent thing.
Fortifications inside buildings don’t tend to fare as poorly when bombs are dropped outside, save occasionally with window sandbags. Which again, should get something of a buff, in my opinion.
That is true ive had some random one shots on pumas frontally, it feels like to much RNG not enough pen values. Very annoying that i can’t harm a pnz 4 from the side or back with a stuart. Its 37mm is quite good on pen. More then enough to best the side or turret armor of the panzer 4. Yet they feel like im shooting at a Tiger 1. Id just love some consistency.
