Plans for third game queue and further matchmaking improvements

I believe that the BR matchmaking system needs a third game queue to improve its accuracy. Currently, the system has a 50/50 chance of placing a BRIII player in a BR I-II or BRIV-V match. For BRIII players, this can be advantageous or disadvantageous depending on the queue.

New players who are just starting the game may face BRIII players, which goes against the new BR system’s goal of fairness to new players. Additionally, BRIII players may be forced to play against BRV players 50% of the time, which is not ideal.

Therefore, a THIRD game queue would be useful in separating the player base and making things more fair. For instance, BR1-II would have its own game queue, while BRII and BRIII would be in a separate queue. BRV would be by itself in a third queue and would not be mixed with any other BR.

Further testing may be needed to finalize the queue placements, and I welcome feedback from both players and developers.

Further questions for all the players out there – Has BR system matchmaking was changed and any way since new BR system (how it works) was explained here (in this forum) and if yes, should the matchmaking explaination be updated?
Can someone further explaine and clarify the chances of getting in quue with other, higher BRs?

Look, uptiers and downtiers are just how BR’s work. Sometimes you get lucky, most of the time you get screwed. Although in my opinion, the BR’s don’t matter much at all. Yes, in War Thunder they are absolutely necessary so you don’t have Abrams slaughtering Panzer II’s. However, a 9mm coming out of a pistol and a .50 BMG coming out of an M2 will kill a man all the same. Flesh bags are notoriously weak to bullets after all. Considering this is an Infantry game with some Combined Arms Warfare mixed in, I don’t really see the need to separate different things into groups in the first place

But, the way things are now, is pretty darn ideal for a BR system. At least for competent players. Shoot all my favorite guns are all in one BR, and it’s the BR with the most randomness in between matches. BR III. I love not knowing if I’m going to be fighting Kar98k’s or MG 42’s until I’m in the thick of it. Will my enemies be gray zone Tiger’s or bum rushing Puma’s? Will my teammates be competent or braindead? Who knows! Gotta figure it out by playing the match. And I loved that aspect of the Campaign system, so it’s nice to retain a semblance of that aspect

So considering armor “balance” isn’t as necessary of a factor for this game, I think it’s perfectly fine as is. Still think the Preferred Map system would’ve been better, but is what it is

What you are describing is the old game. Before New Era of Enlisted and new BR system. Removing the ramdomness and K98 against MG42s was the whole point.

New BR system made it more fair for new players where they don’t have to face more powerful weapons and armor. BR1 and 2 wont face BR5 Tiger 2, but this is not the case for BR3 players.

The whole point of my suggestion is to improve the experience for BRIII player to be matched with BRIV and no higher and BRV will play other BRVs.

What about the BR3 player ratio when mixing with higher BR queue? How is that determined? is the ratio fixed or dynamic? No one really knows.

Unless the current system is disigned to automatically fill player mix gaps with BR3 players (with largest playerbase) The ratio may vary depending on what br players mix are currently online.

Yeah and I don’t like that suggestion as someone who’s considering maining BR III over BR V because of the fact it fights not just BR V, but also BR I and II. It’s random from match to match. It’s great and I love it. Just let it be as is. Those who can’t handle it have 4 other BR’s to play. Besides, making it to where one BR only ever fights one or two other BR’s for the rest of eternity is dull and boring. Matches would become predictable. Where’s the fun in fighting the same thing over and over again?

It’s probably just random. Granted what was envisioned was probably I/IV and II/V being majority in their matches with III to supplement where needed. Being the 1-3 that can own a lobby or being the ones needing a little carrying, on both sides. As is though? Who knows what the ratio of players is in matches. Anyways, doesn’t really matter a whole lot. Bullet is bullet and fleshbag is fleshbag
