Who wants to get rid of planes? What do they really add to the game? Lets keep this an infantry based fist fight. As it is, Tanks and Artillery are enough to slam dunk you and at least you can avoid or destroy them. Maybe restrict planes to certain maps. Plane lovers can go and play WT

well, for how much i despite planes ( even if i use them regulary ), they are good, and provides a good ammount of limited power. enough to change the outcome a battle if the pilot is capable.
especially when your enemy is well entrenched in a position, and your team has to attack it. this is why bombs, rockets and every other weapon is usefull for that. plus, more toys to play with

Very restrictive way of thinking. You do not have infantry targets in War Thunder.
In Normandy, I actually like them, and AA guns are accessible enough to shoot them down quite easily.
In Moscow, they aren’t very effective, and naturally you don’t see them very often there as a result.
I thought the might of the Luftwaffe didn’t play a role in D Day or Normandy battles unlike the Russian conflicts. If they had, D Day might have ended differently. Allied airpower yes for D Day map, but not German. Historical correctness?
Its a long hike up the beach to get blasted by a non existent force.

JG 26 squadron. Priller and his winger, Heinz Wodarczyk, were the only ones in the JG 26 to strafe the Allied beaches during the landing operations, namely Sword and Juno Beach.
The Normandy campaign is more than just D-Day.
By this line of thinking you can go play a game with no planes.

I’m liking actually having a reason to bring a fighter to a battle now.
They do however need a lot of work yet to actually feel like part of the battle.

Yah, I can agree with that one except it is just an allied fighter in Normandy. My very first concerns about aircraft were that it is going to be OP. In reality, however, they were very underperforming and insignificant for the battle where the only exception is BF110.
As a result of planes being underplayed and because of that, there are multiple problems such as aircraft damage models are off, animations inside the cockpit are weird and they need a lot of work in general. But I definitely think that they should be present in the game.

Some people can’t understand enlisted is combined arms and not infantry only.
I remember some dude wanted AI tanks on my tank poll

Again, I vaguely remember that before alpha there was something about the initial plan for the game to be combined arms, but with all non-infantry roles delegated to AI.
I’m guessing AI vehicles are just too dumb not to ruin immersion.
At first I never played aircraft because the controls where abysmal, but as I’ve got used to them, they can swing the tide on attacking or defending objectives really well.
They are situational and struggle a lot, but with a good team they can be incredibly useful

I wouldn’t call it a buff or nerf that they need, but a general rework, as I don’t think they’re too weak or too strong but just aren’t right.
Of course I don’t really have an idea of what that would look like.
