I noticed that there are occasions when planes will no longer gain altitude and you inevitably crash into the ground when there are no noticeable issues shown on the interface.
Other players have speculated it was due to overheating which is not shown.
Currently the throttle can go to 110 which many presume to be a percentage where 110% is meant to be a boost and 100 and lower is where you should keep your throttle most times to prevent overheating.
I have been keeping my throttle at or below 100 most times and noticed that I was able to stay the air longer on average.
If this is indeed an overheat problem, perhaps you can make that clearer in the interface, and also make the throttle more intuitive as well.
I’m sure most experienced players just full blast the throttle. Average players do not even know throttle exists or what it is actually. Those players are flying at the default 55 (?) throttle and wonder why other planes are so fast.
In War Thunder you’d overheat when running full WEP (110) and I’m pretty sure it’s here also. I run at 99 without issues and burst WEP when I need it.
idk how much better they could make the throttle in aircraft’s o.o’ just remove the shift and ctrl binds from it… the mouse wheel bind is far superior
Overheat is not currently modeled. The temperature gauges don’t raise and I constantly gun my planes at 110% only lowering it to pull tighter maneuvers.
The two things that I found that will do what you describe are forgetting to throttle up when you spawn since your throttle will be automatically set at 55 or having taken engine damage which will gradually erode your total engine power.
Not all planes have this issue. Which makes me believe certain models are prone to overheating more than others. P-51 is the one I notice this issue the most. I would have my throttle at 110 for a long time taking out 5 planes and eventually I could not gain altitude any more. Now when I use P-51 I mainly using <100 throttle, and occasionally use 110. I never had this issue with the P-38. I had the issue once in a while in the A-20, but P-51 gave me the most issues.
The throttle is only an issue is you go below a certain speed in which case you’re supposed to up your throttle and possible drop your flaps as well to gain some lift. I’m already aware of this. As for the engine damage, that is another issue that they have supposedly fixed. When these “overheat” issues occur, the plane map does not show that I have taken any damage. Also, when you take engine damage you’re usually blowing black smoke.
