as a plane pilot , even though its unrealistic. Its the only way to balance planes and it works. There are strategies you can use as a plane pilot to avoid ground fire but the bots on the ground sometimes get a lucky snap shot.
I have shot down planes with a bolt action , and while its silly , it does require a bit of skill to pull off.
However the planes ability to wipe a team is so powerful that the damage model of the planes is needed.
I really dont mind it. When you get hit in the rudder is when its really funny actually. The first time i got in the plane i was hit in the rudder without knowing , and i played an entire 30m game with the plane wobbling back and forth and i thought it was a stamina/game mechanic to keep the planes “balanced” and keep players from spending too much time in the plane. It wasnt until later i figured out it was just damage.
I say keep it the way it is. If you can shoot down a plane with a bolt action rifle , the game is balanced in my opinion.
If you have a 20mm anti air gun , aircraft really dont stand a chance. Even my madsen machine gun fired from the hip will destroy an aircraft.
I have a feeling as more and more people unlock more stuff like machine guns , playing as an aircraft will become much harder (good)
well done accurate planes in an FPS is absolutely unique. You can only count on your hand the amount of games that have done it. The only game i can think of is ww2 online
all the BF games aircraft are kinda dumb and the radius of flying them in the map is always too small
I love how ez it is to get shot down. I fly a bf 109. And just one or two bad hits can render my plane unmaneuverable. But sometimes I am able to recover and get the other plane.
I also have been shot down by a P 38 that I thought I had shot enough but recovered and got me in the back.
So I think it’s true but depending on where you get hit, you can recover.
I was unsure if that dmg was from pulling horizontally whilst being at too high Speed so I didn’t mention it. It’s not intrusive since you can avoid it by simple pulling your plane up vertically.
I’m more fixated at the intrusive issues that prevent you from actually flying as in repairing your plane in-air or not having the restock point maybe 1500 instead of 3000 Miles away, being unable to ever reach the 900 Altitude you start at or actually making solid turns by raising your flaps
Like… Really I enjoyed the Warthunder piloting the way it is x)
I get what your saying but it also a tricky balance with the rest of the battle and players.
I love it but some people are calling it op. I unlocked the bf 109 which has a 250kg bomb. If I’m careful I don’t die all game and knockout between 5 - 10 vehicles and 100+ infantry.
Which in turn means no one else gets to fly. So not having repairs and having to crash the plane in some circumstances is actually good because other players can get on it.
If they had a airplane focused battle with multiple aircrafts per team, I’d welcome repairs like in War Thunder.
Have you played Simulation mode in War Thunder? It was much more difficult where you had to land for repairs/refuel and your airplane body would tear up easily if you took too many gs
my main issue with plane balancing is when it’s done poorly, since the game is trying to set up a balance where people get equal stuff but when it comes to plane the germans have all the advantages for CAS which is extremely good compared to the allied counterparts most of the time
It’s always the players who don’t bother learning the planes and ways of dealing with them who complain the most. And most of the time it’s because planes are the only thing that keep their cheese tactics in check.
If you don’t like the aspects of combined arms then maybe try something else like Post Scriptum, Hell Let Loose or even CoD WW2.
This post proves that you haven’t even played War Thudner in the first place. While it’s not neccessary, it definitely would have given you advantages of dealing with enemy air before visting the forums.
I play planes a lot and know very well how they work and even I have to admit that the flight models in Enlisted are worse than those in War Thunder, where the planes fly much smoother.
In addition to that, the damage models for both planes and tanks are very fucked. 75mm HE being more effective than AP at killing pumas is one of those examples. Or planes spinning out if any control surface turns yellow. Dealing damage to vehicles simply is not consistent right now. Even if you know where to aim, it is often a dice roll as to what kind of damage will be dealt.
I think most players would be very happy if they made the damage/flight models identical to those of War Thunder, as it seems that they changed certain values for the worse.
Enough…
Move on from the inflammatory back & forth, please. Here is not the place for that. Stay constructive, stay friendly, it’s as easy as that. Posts in question have been removed.
The flight controls, wings and stabilizers are horribly (ridiculously) sensitive to damage, but the fuselage can take quite a lot of damage without losing controllability.
