And? Are you stating that tankers, drivers and pilots can in fact use them? No? Then what worth is this statement? I already know this, that’s why I’m asking for it. I’m clearly aknowledging that the things that already exist does in fact already exist by the virtue of asking more.
I don’t mean this directly at you, but whenever I state something should be expanded upon, like “we need more British squads/weapons/vehicles”, there’s always one guy throwing himself headlong to say “but already are some of these in the game in some capacity”, like its some sort of counter. Am I missing something? It’s utterly meaningless, unless you’re telling me to shut up and accept what we’ve already got? What is the reasoning for putting down a brother in this way?
Maybe, I think it would be more interesting letting the US carbine family have this unique feature would be overall more interesting, not to mention the most historicly grounded way forward as it was its intentional role.
The M2 is not a Assault Rifle, and I’ll keep repeating this til my dying breath. In WW2 terms (and older) it is a Carbine weapon (a weapon smaller than a regular rifle firing a pistol to intermediate rounds), post-war it’s a “Personal Defense Weapon (PDW)”, it’s something soldiers had that was more effective than a pistol but less bulky than a full-sized rifle.
Both in real life and in game people have critiqued the carbine family for being “too weak” and not a effective replacement for the service rifle, despite the fact it was never intended to do that. People forcing this weapon into roles it was never meant for will always be disapointed at its capabilities, the only “buff” the M1 and M2 needs is more situations where it can be used, for example yes Assaulters, but also vehicle crews, drivers, medics and pilots. People will shut up about how “weak” it is when you can give it to tankers.
The correct statement is that every class in the game can (could*, considering the new information given above) use the VG 1-5 except the Guerrillas, a unique feature of this weapon compared to all others, and again something I think should be given to the US carbines too. It’s also listed in game as a “Volkssturm Rifle”, the only weapon I’m aware that does so, rather than a “Semi-Auto Rifle”.
