Penalty for something I can't control

Before this match, I had to quit a game because I got stuck in the loading screen. Waited about 2-3 minutes before closing and re-opening Enlisted. What a fucking joke, getting penalized for having a glitch I can’t control.

a -20% XP Penalty

It’s nice to be a vet needing nothing. The Dev’s could impose a 100% penalty and it wouldn’t effect me. So, I stopped giving a shit, especially since no one is actually interested in fixing the actual reasons people desert in the first place. As long as the majority is more worried about penalizing players then actually fixing the reasons their deserting , then why care about what you can’t control. :no_good_man:

In fact, I’ve got so tired of the game play in general being so bad that the past few weeks, I’ve just been playing a regular game or two every couple days, and playing 90% of my own two man custom matches. I don’t get shit for experience, silver or tech tree, but at this stage, why do I care? I don’t need the silver, or care about climbing the ranks as I have been between 85 and 90 for the past couple weeks because you don’t get rank increases playing small matches. However, I don’t care, I’m just playing for my own personal fun.

thats the point so why do -20% matters?
After the merge it is much easier to level everything up anyway plus there are the 3x 50% XP boosts every day…

The playing for fun is the part that most people forget, well, that and the fact that it’s a free video game. :joy:

I personally don’t care if people desert or not, if they’re not having fun most likely they aren’t contributing to the effort anyway. If I am being seal clubbed, a few people deserting on my team are probably not going to change that, and on the opposite side, if my team is seal clubbing another team, is a few people deserting from the other team going to change that? Most likely not.

Maybe less people would desert if we could get past the punishment at all cost phase and actually concentrate on fixing the reasons people desert, but people don’t seem to care about curing the disease, they just want to treat the symptons. I’m not opposed to punishment, but when they really don’t change anything, its just a waste of time.

Punishment would be -60% so you loose more then you gain… 20% is a joke

Its quite literally better to quit a losing match to get a winning one

The only scenario where you actually lose a whopping 10% EXP is when you leave a losing match and get 2 winning ones

But then again, winning matches grant you more EXP anyways which will likely result in the penalty not affecting you at all

Thats likely a bug because the penalties are imposed after the game concludes/the reconnection timer runs out

You should just report it, especailly since even if you get stuck in connection screen and press cancel you do not get the penalty

According to some elitist players, and I quote (almost):

“It’s entirely your responsibility to prevent something such as this from happening. Buy a better internet connection. A better rig. If you live in an area with constant power outages, wars, natural disaters and such, it’s your fault, because you just have to move elsewhere. If you’re too poor to do so, it’s also your fault. You 100% deserve all the punishment you got. In fact, it should be even harsher. Shame on you for depriving others the satisfaction of using you as an xp farm and having your fun pass before theirs. Gaijin/df are right. You’re wrong. There’s no need to fix real problems. All that matters is to punish players so we can feel better about ourselves.”

Borderlands were funny games true.

But I truly only half joked with the “quotation”. Almost all I’ve said in it has truly been said, more or less (I used poetic license a bit) by elitist players. They truly think that way

Which makes it even funnier.

I could move back the US and cure my power outage issues I have on occasion here in the Philippines, however, the moving would cost far more then the 20% desertion penalty.    Not to mention, my pension isn’t enough to live on in the US, I would have to go work as a greeter at Walmart or something part time to pay bills, and I would have to give up my girlfriend who is almost half my age. Nope, I’ll take the 20% penalty and be fine with it.

While it is easy to have sympathy for those suffering disconnection - they are likely a small minority of those leaving games early - pretty much every 2nd game you can see half a team leaving early.

So while it sucks a bit when you can’t control it, what is the alternative that can be applied to those many more players who can control it?

Until they actually address and try and fix the reasons people desert, I don’t think any penalty is really going to work, unless they are willing to suspend or ban players who desert, but that will never happen unless they have more players then they know what do with, which they will never have. :joy:

I posted in your other thread where you posted some solutions that don’t actually address the reasons you give for desertions…
