I’m sorry to hear that. It’s 48 hours so if you work out the change over point you can plan for it. I’m in SE Asia so the changeover is somewhere in the evening. Theres decent rewards even if you don’t finish the event so maybe you can still snatch something like a nice Luftfaust. Really curious to see how those play.
I usually get around 10k mission points per hour of play time but getting 4 accounts all unlocks on one device might be a bit ambitious though. Especially considering maybe not all your boys know how to play metas. I’d almost suggest getting a 2nd hand Xbox One or something if you’re interested in getting good squads for cheap for 4 accounts so atleast 2 people can play at a time. Usually the event squads are very good. Just a thought since there seem to be event squads once every 2 or 3 months.
Worth noting that you’re not too late to get both aircraft and 1 Luftfaust + the gold weapon order, if I’m not mistaken.
Yay. 506th Paratroopers finally went on half off sale in the XBox Store. I wish they’d given a bit more of a heads up that it was happening, but I got them anyway.
And honestly…I like the free Russian ones better. I like that the Russian ones can be assigned different primary weapons so that you can flex their BR. Having the 506th only playable at BR5 makes them a bit more limiting.
But I wanted them; now I have them; they’re fun to use; I have them on my bench right now in favor of a second BAR squad. When you set your 506th kit to machine gunner, your squad doesn’t get enough machine guns. Their replacement BAR squad gets 4.
When I set mine as snipers, they get a frickin low level M1903A1 when I have the A4 and the Enfield unlocked. I’m assuming since the Enfield wasn’t available in the Normandy Campaign when the 506th troopers were added, it wasn’t even thought of as an option.
Also wish they’d make the 100 round Tommy restricted to only be used by paratroopers and then let you choose the primary for your paratroopers like they did with the free Soviets.
But now that I’m not back at the beginning of the game, they seem a touch lackluster. I’ve got better snipers; I’ve got better machine gunners; the 506th troopers only get the Tommy gun and Tommy guns generally suck even if they’ve got massive drums. You just miss your target more times…
Letting you pick the weapons in the crate for the specialist kits would be even better.
Yeah. I kind of liked my idea to put at least one squad into the game behind an achievement. Send a maxed soldier of each of the primary classes and they’d essentially get “retrained” as paratroopers.
Alternatively, you could have to completely give up a maxed soldier from each of the primary classes (so there’s an actual, in-game sacrifice since you have to give up a lot of your best soldiers to acquire the paratroopers)
I agree it should of been a tree researchable for all.
As for FOMO event, there should still be events, just not with such important part of game mechanics as you mention.
and don’t forget btw, all these fomo event things where meant to be added to game down the road,
3y later?
There’s A LOT of competition for gaming player bases and the freemium gaming model generally sucks for creating a stable, long term player base. All of them trend towards gimmicks and “power plays” when the free base dwindles and goes to play something else. When you see a freemium event(in any freemium game; not just this one) come along with something that seems too powerful to give away for free, the basic reason is that their player base metrics are showing a bleeding of players or there is marketing intel that a competing product will be doing something to siphon off players so they go in hard to keep their players’ attention.
I generally despise the gaming model, but my son downloaded it because it was free, I saw it on the screen, and thought it looked good enough to check this one out.
This one is at least a lot of fun and has kept my interest.
I think it’s one of the better ones (or I wouldn’t be here)
But they disregarded it and kept pumping those events.
Premiums got the same treatment. Did you know they used to be simply fun and unique? They even were WEAKER than regular things. (We only wanted them to be on par regular squads). Nowadays, they’re rather p2w. Like the mg45, the drum tommy paratroopers, the ass44 squad (before ass44 became regular tech tree unlock)…
I remember having fun with my very basic, 9 premium riflemen only squads just because they had unique rifles, outfits, and even voices.
They need to break that malicious trend when they open with Steam…
I’m not even sure what you “win” in this game, though unless you’re just talking “round by round.”
I notice that there’s a big Medals page in the profile, but those must be from earlier in the game because I haven’t seen anything come up for them.
The 506th paratroopers are literally the only thing I’ve bought and I seem to have advanced in the tree past their most useful time for me(if they’d been for sale in November, I would have bought more of them for Christmas presents but didn’t go on sale until after) I use them right now when I absolutely, guaranteed demand to play in Europe because they automatically make me BR5. But as far as actual usefulness in a battle: “meh” I like my custom built BAR squad with an engineer, radio, and sniper much better for primary use.
I have maxed A1 BARs (working towards A2s shortly. I want to unlock the grenade throwing M1 carbine first), a maxed Enfield, maxed M1 Carbine for my engineer and radio, and two Colt Swartz for my sniper’s and engineer’s pistol. The squad is MUCH more flexible to me than the premium paratroopers who only really grant me the ability to drop anywhere I want. But more times than not, I pick a landing zone that’s under fire, I make a “perfect” hard landing, and the troopers that follow me float down like idiots and get shot out of the sky. So what’s even the fricking point?
Paratroopers got nerfed a lot with their falling time and speed.
Because of dum dums who have no situational awareness whatsoever and never thought it was a good idea to look up when they heard the very loud sound of a plane accompanied by flak explosions…
To them, it was “impossible to counter”.
Their words…
Even now in their nerfed state, those guys keep whining about them.
Mind you, those ppl are those who only rush in a straight line towards the capture zone, usually.
But it’s not what I meant with p2w.
P2w just means premium squads now come with BETTER equipment, or even mechanics, than regular squads.
Like paratroopers with 100 ammunition drums…
Mg45 or 42 early being the best lmgs of the game…
Engineers in premium squads equipped with smgs or lmgs…
Machine gunners squads with FIVE lmgs, while the max for regular is three…
Yeah. I’d much rather the 506th Tommy be the 50 round drum if it’s going to be a Tommy at all and have the 50 round drum Tommy not in the tree at all(it’d be better if they were equipped with a proper M1 Carbine and the Tommy was in the crate) and upgrade the other specialist weaponry especially since you can’t have multiple specialist classes in the unit at any one time. The flexibility to make them whatever you need them to be whenever you need them to be it is pretty great, but I needed these back in October and November a whole lot more than I need them now in January.
One problem I find myself having in a post-Merge, BR world is that they automatically make me a BR5 and they’re my only BR5 unit. I notice when I take them on my roster, I end up getting assigned to a slightly weaker team and I’m assuming that has to do with me being weighed as a BR5 and expected to shoulder more of the weight. This dynamic makes me a bit gunshy to throw them in at the end of the season where I’m trying to finish out the few remaining points to earn Lieutenant General for the first time…so, “meh”
