Para suggested tweaks

Please consider the following minor changes, bottom line I love them and have them on Normandy and they are so much fun.

  1. Allow the para dropped box to act like an ammo box to troops, it’s big enough to carry more than the equipment load outs we get.

  2. It would be good to see where your team and fellow Paras are dropping, or at very least in your group, although we use comms to work it out, drop markers on map would help me to decide where to drop, to support or to spread out the attack or create diversions.

  3. Maybe extend flight time a few seconds, considering these planes were not armoured, they could be a bit more vulnerable (risk reward), I have opened fire on several when I see them in a plane, not even seen a plane smoke as result.

Controversial
4. Although we have some equipment customization already, allow us to chose which AT weapon to bring to battle, M9 bazooka or Type 97 as choices… will this tip balance?

Don’t derail this topic, keep on track and any naysayers about Paras, kindly don’t bother whining here.

Look forwards to a Market garden map one day.

  1. the problem is that it is created during the launch from the plane “only” to give equipment to your parachute squad, to make it capable of giving ammunition to other players it should be usable by everyone which could create quite a few bugs
  2. Better not, see it on the minimap would end up filling it with markers, and we’re still waiting for decent player to player interaction (without having to use discord)
  3. the flight time I can agree with you is too short, maybe making the plane spawn, a few seconds of flight outside the infantry playable area would do the trick, more not otherwise you would end up making them unusable due to the spammed anti-aircraft artillery
  4. I guess the custom lodouts come when the paratroopers are introduced in the normal progression
  1. The para squads are already pretty OP by allowing them to customize equipment load out AND start location dynamically… I don’t think they need to also have an ammo box.

  2. I’ve followed the C47 in a BF-109G and managed to set it on fire, though I don’t think I got points for shooting it down. But agree with this comment - it can spawn a few seconds earlier and a bit farther away, and you should get points for the shootdown. Makes the paras a bit more risky and less OP, and it’s always nice to give more incentives to effective fighter pilots.

  3. More of an aesthetic suggestion but - when you look inside the plane, the rest of the para squad is seated and inanimate. They should be animated, but more than that, they should be standing in a line behind you hooked up and ready to jump - perhaps make an animation for them hooking up and checking their equipment? It makes no sense that they are all seated and, seconds later, they are already outside the plane jumping with you.

  4. Need an improved parachute opening animation.

  5. Allow the parachutes themselves to remain on the ground a bit longer, like destroyed debris. This is functional as well as aesthetic, as it lets ground troops detect recent paradrops more easily.

  6. Same suggestion I made for the bombers - the paratroop planes should turn around after dropping their loads and return in the direction they originated.

If we were stuck with the current system, I would have guessed that in the future there would be Paratrooper II and III squads, each one having progressively better gear.

But since apparently the progression rework will scrap the tiers system, who knows.

I think instead it could be mostly fine… Paras can’t carry ammo pouches and only one squad setup allows one engineer.

Letting them (and anybody else) refill ammo at their crate would improve their point defense ability, but not so much their attack potential.
