Panzerwerfer 42 to BR3

Hello bajtársak and fellow forumdwellers,
Today I will talk about the old premium rocket artillery truck which is no longer purchasable, the 15cm Pz.W. 42 or Panzerwerfer as it is commonly called.

First of all, lets compare the Panzerwerfer to other vehicles with rockets

rocket artillery platforms
15cm Panzerwerfer 42, BR4 with 20x Wgr.41 Spr Rockets, 1x MG42

tanks with rocket artillery
Pershing M26 T99, BR5 with 44x M rockets, 90mm cannon and MGs.
Sherman calliope, BR4 with 60x M8 rockets, 75mm cannon and MGs.
BM-8-24, BR2 with 24x 82mm M-8 rockets.

Aircraft with rockets:
P-38 G lightning, BR2 with 8x M8 rockets, 20mm and 12,7mm cannons.
IL-2 (1941), BR2 with 8x RBS-82 rockets, 20mm cannon and 4x 50kg bombs.
IL-2 type 3, BR3 with 4x RBS-132 rockets, 37mm cannons and 4x 100kg bombs.

The Panzerwerfer 42 is not a tank, it’s just a slow half-track artillery platform with light armour to protect against small arms fire. It is very easy to destroy via strafing with any aircraft with 12.7mm machine guns or bigger.
It can be easily penetrated by heavy machine guns and anti-tank rifles at any range.
Its self-defense is limited to a single MG42 mounted on the front with very limited angles so it’s essentially useless.
Despite it being artillery, it cannot fire indirectly at enemies, forcing the player to fire directly from a safe distance thus making the vehicle very situational as most maps do not allow such play.
The only thing really going for this vehicle are its rockets, but rocket spam is not even unique to this vehicle at all.

The Panzerwerfer 42 at the time of the merge was BR3, but under the pretense that it should not bully BR1 players, it was moved to BR4 and was forgotten about even though BR3 and BR1 stopped matching together months ago.
This vehicle really needs to go back down to BR3.

Thank you for your time and attention!

In fact (according to a rookie I observed), many BR1 players get to BR2 after their first BR2 weapon despite they got all other BR1 stuff and starter tank. But well, choosing the BR is also part of game skill for them to learn. (It should be put into the tutorial, about going to BR5 with a BR5 event weapon isn’t a good idea)
I don’t think Panzerwerfer 42 would perform better than Pz3N or Stug2 in BR3, so why not?

I forgot to mention this in the original topic, but why are the Panzerwerfer 42 and Sherman calliope on the same BR?
one is a tank with decent armour, a strong 75mm howitzer, machine guns while the other is just a half-track truck with some rocket artillery put on its back.

I would personally prefer the number of rockets to increase (for example to something like 10/50 instead of 10/10), rather than lowering the vehicle to BR3.

Calliope should be BR 3

this should probably be BR 2.

Yeah it’s ultra bad at BR4, even BR3 is devastating as everything could 1hk you anyway. Soviets at BR1 even have op rocket planes with 50mm of pen.

Because classic 75mm Sherman already isn’t one of the best BR3 tanks.

Now we’re going to put paywalled pay2win version to the same BR.

Japanese mains are already crying in pain as they already have difficulty destroying basic Sherman and you want more of them.

The panzerwerfer is in an odd spot post merge.
It can kill all kind of shermans and even the jumbos by targeting the roof/ turret to blow them up.
But if you fight the USSR you are unable to do anything to a t-34.

So against the western allies one could justify it beeing somewhat elevated in BR but vs the soviets its will just suck as there it would be somewhere between BR 2 and 3.

It makes sense. I’ll forward it

Pretty certain it was BR 2 on the Merge test server. I remember because I was annoyed when it jumped up 2 BRs, while the KV-1 moved 1 down below it…

Paper thin, 3 crew, very limited ammo…can be killed easily by AT rifles and plane machineguns, cannons…nevermind everything else
