Panzerschrecks

Two variants of Panzerschrecks should be added into Germany’s Research Tree

RPzb 54 with Shield, most common variant, the same as the current except with a blast shield. Could be foldered with the current Panzerschreck. You can’t have a WW2 game without the famous shielded Panzerschreck!

RPzb 54/1, shortened variant with a longer effective range. Could be BR 5

Can you send some sources to this? Sounds quite unbelievable.

Wikipedia, IMFDb, etc :man_shrugging:

I think its because the 54/1 used a different rocket, as far I can tell

Used different ammo that’s why I think it had longer effective range
The ammo was RPzB granate 4992

So why this ammo any diffirent well normal Panzerschreck used RPzB. Gr. 4312(Without shield) then they went with
Raketen Panzer Büchse Granat 4322(Panzerschreck 54)
image
and then 4992
The difference is that is that 4992 is fin stabilized and that might have given it more range but the thing is 54/1 and the 4992 rocket were entered service very late(Yes they entered service ) but there was no time to mass produce them

P.S : there was apparently a 100 mm Panzerschreck name Panzerschreck 54/100 time to dig to find more info

Ah, ok.
Better rockets was one of the options but I thought they’d use better rockets for both versions of schrecks. I didn’t consider superior german logistics and production capabilities lol.

Weren’t they both fin stabilized? I guess the latter was simply an improvement?

Ps.
Also apparently “arkt” means it’s a winter ammo. I guess it’s time for another suggestion?

Oh man you are right sorry after checking my source yeah all 3 rockets were fin stabilized the diffirence between the 4992 and 4312 & 4322 was in its rocket motor imma quote my source here

“The new design would give a more efficient combustion, resulting in a higher V0 (Velocity at the starting point). With a higher V0, the grenade would go further with better accuracy, and if the combustion of the motor was completed before the grenade left the launcher it would be possible to discontinue using the shield”

And also 54/1 had new sights because of new velocity of ammo

At the same time when these separate ‘shots’ were experimented with, specialized loadings for the classic expendable Panzerfaust were also tried.

  • Splitterfaust (featuring a new warhead fitted with a pre-fragmented cast-iron sleeve and time-fuze to air-burst the thing 200-400 meters from the firing position). As many as 100 Splitterfausts are reported to be manufactured in April 1945 and delivered for front-line testing around Eberswalde.

  • Brandfaust, with incendiary warhead.

  • An interesting study from spring 1945 describes what can be deemed an early attempt at creating the thermobaric warhead, using HE charge generously laced with aluminum powder and barium peroxide to enhance its effect in urban warfare.

Il just leave these here, more spam is always welcome.

Differences between the RPzB 54 and RPzB 54/1 versions of the Panzerschreck:

RPzB 54
Calibre: 88 mm.
Weight: 11 kg empty with shield.
Length: 164 cm.
Projectile speed: 110 m/s.
Effective range: 150
Armor Penetration: Capable of penetrating up to 230 mm of homogeneous armor at 90 degrees.
Additional Features: Equipped with a shield to protect the operator from recoil and the flash of the gunshot

RPzB 54/1
Caliber: 88 mm.
Weight: Similar to the RPzB 54, but with some design improvements.
Length: Shorter than the RPzB 54, making it more manageable.
Projectile speed: Similar to the RPzB 54
Effective range: Increased to 180 meters thanks to an improved rocket2.
Armor penetration: Similar to the RPzB 54.
Additional features: Improved firing system and accuracy RPzB 54.
Additional features: Improvements in the firing system and accuracy, plus a more compact design

Main Differences
Length: The RPzB 54/1 is shorter, making it easier to handle in combat.
Effective Range: The RPzB 54/1 has a longer effective range due to improvements in the rocket.
Design:The RPzB 54/1 included improvements in the firing system and accuracy.

These differences made the RPzB 54/1 a more refined and effective version of the Panzerschreck, although both versions They were greatly feared for their ability to penetrate thick armor.

Now those could be a good event item
