I don’t know if this is a bug, or a feature at this point, but the SBD Dauntless cannot take off of the American aircraft carrier in the Pacific campaign. (which is stupid as it is/was a carrier based plane) This is a shame, because it is a great plane.
Is this a common phenomenon, or is this just skill issue from me?

Tip don’t deploy flaps, don’t go below 150TAS, when taking off nose down, throttle full, pick up speed raise wheels, fly level til you pick up speed, , don’t try to climb to fast. I also think you mean the AP1 avenger right? SDM is much lighter, you can deploy flaps with that.

quite the opposite. it’s great and more maps should have this feature.
because it gives you time to counter other planes instead of having to just watch a plane spawn relatively close to the field like normandy and wipe half of the team with just bombs and no way to counter it.
it also gives more room for the infantry to breath. you know, the main part of the game.
beside, it also allows for players to repair the aircraft.

no. i did not had any problems.
try to fly a bit to the left and do not turn right. otherwise sometimes the questionable hitboxes can clip your wings.

considering how many times I’ve seen Dauntlesses in the air and occasionally Avengers, yep, I think it’s skill issue

AP-1 starts absolutely badly. I haven’t had any problems with the SBD-3 or the Japanese at all, but the AP-1 is the horror. I have all planes in game that belong to AP-1 urgently need an overhaul.
Just full throttle and don’t pull back, raise wheels asap, don’t do anything fly straight and level keeping speed over 150 (or you stall), you will see plane accelerates, climbs quite quickly, once in flight speed 200+
