Hey Everyone,
Some requests/suggestions for future Pacific theatre based content.
Maps:
While the Burma Maps are included in the Pacific rotation, key Islands from the main Pacific War itself are still absent at this point - Some suggestions to add:
- Pelilu
- Iwo Jima
- Saipan
- Okinawa
Vehicles:
***I mainly play as the US, so It’d be good to hear from people with knowledge of the Japanese for suggestions on additions to their lineup.
Some suggestions for new Vehicles below - ideally I would like these to all be available via Tech Tree research, but it’s likely that some will have to be bought via the store.
-
LVT(A)(4) - This is a variant of the LVT with the rear machine guns removed and the 37mm main gun replaced with the 75mm howitzer from an M8 Scott.
-
Flamethrower variants of both the LVT and of a Sherman - I have seen two versions of the flamethrower mounted of the LVT, most seem to be of the ‘Water Buffalo’ configuration, with the flamethrower mounted to the rear of the two Machine Gun turrets, behind a shield for the operator.
The other variant, which I’ve only seen once, has the flamethrower mounted as part of the turret on the standard 37mm LVT.
-
Increase squad size for LVT (A)(1) to 6, with the extra 2 bots manning the rear 30cal Machine Guns.
-
Addition of larger seaplanes like the PBY Catalina or PMB Mariner? - I’m unsure of how these would work in the sandbox so interested to hear what others think of this.
Note: A possible option for Pricing on the LVT vehicles in particular could be that players who purchased one or both of the previous models are given a discounted rate on the newer ones in either Silver or Gold, relative to players who haven’t purchased the previous versions.
Units:
There needs to be more USMC units for the Pacific campaign given their involvement in that Theatre.
It was a missed opportunity, and somewhat nonsensical to make the only Pacific based US infantry squad an Army unit, but then to give them the USMC variant of the Springfield.
Some suggestions below:
-
3/5 Marines (3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment) - An excellent choice for a USMC infantry squad for the Pacific.
-
Scout Sniper Platoon, 6th Marine Regiment (Tachovsky’s 40 Thieves) - This could serve as a USMC specific sniper unit.
-
Amphibious Reconnaissance battalion - It feels like a miss to not have some representation of these units in the Pacific selection.
They are probably best presented as a Premium Assaulter squad with various support soldiers (Sniper, Machine Gunner, Radio Operator etc).
Cosmetic changes/Fixes:
Some minor fixes/additions to the cosmetics in the Pacific campaign:
-
Return the ‘Green’ Frogskin pants that were part of the green uniform cosmetic before Pacific outfits were changed for solid outfits to separate Torso and leg options.
-
Add both variants of the Frogskin blouses as customisation options.
-
Add missing detail for Frogskin blouses where the reverse pattern can be seen on the inside of the collar (Per the blouse seen on the Marine Raider squad).
-
Add USMC text and logo to breast pocket of blouses on any actual Marine units. In order to keep the uniform on the Marine Raider premium squad, add the WW2 era Marine Raider badge to their shoulders.
-
Adjust mesh/texture (unsure of correct term) for the ‘Green’ Froksin helmet cover. The one in game is more similar to modern day copies of the original camo and at time, even looks closer to MARPAT.
-
Fix clipping/collision issues with objects on Pacific uniforms.
Cosmetic additions:
The recent campaign specific additions to the Battle of the Bulge customisation options is a good template to follow for expanding Pacific based customisation.
-
Pacific customisation needs to be expanded in general as it, along with Tunisia are quite limited in terms of Campaign specific customisation.
-
Customisation should be based on historic examples (Archive photos etc) of troops and how they carried their equipment.
-
Pacific specific customisation should feature ‘lighter uniforms’.
Currently, all but two US uniforms have the soldier wearing the jacket OVER the blouse, without sleeves rolled.
Most of the outfits should feature JUST the Blouse and have the sleeves rolled.
-
Full backpacks should not be a mandatory part of all of the customisation outfits.
-
Addition of the USMC cap for Marine units.
In the longer term, I’d like to see customisation go beyond campaign specific, to class specific options that are again based on historic photos/accounts etc. For example, my sniper class shouldn’t be using an option that has BAR gunner webbing as the set up.
Misc:
Finally, some small MISC changes to the gameplay space and units.
- Napalm bombardment ability for radio operators
- Naval bombardment ability - bigger version of artillery strike, comes from friendly ships seen on the sea in various maps.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and suggestions also,
See you on the Battlefield.
