Overpowered Russian on Battle of Berlin

It’s a compromise with what we were talking about. Meanwhile, the main issue for Germans at low level is the grind before they get effective weapons. Even with the nerf suggested, german LMGs would still outperform their Soviet equivalents by a similar margin to what Soviet equipment outperforms german equipment at this level. And while the soviet SMGs would become cancer still at high level, you then get the likes of the VG.1-5, FG42, etc around the same point they really become a problem, so… It would honestly deal with a lot of the equipment grind issue, combining a nerf to LMGs with a decrease in unlock level.

All good points.

Nevertheless the biased implementation that plagued WT for years is fully realised in Enlisted as well.

Modelling issues aside, as there are plenty of issues with hitboxes outscaling the actual model they’re representing in game, the soviet equipment is over performing - ie the carded stats do not match in game performance.

This is evident for tanks, some of their small arms (particularly in recoil and accuracy) and its also evident for planes as well.

I’ve tried to BnZ the Soviet aircraft in game, but it doesn’t work because of borked damage models. You will simply spend all game booming and zooming without effect. At some point you’re going to have to slow down burn off your energy and try to dump a reasonable volume of fire into a plane. And this is where the air combat goes to shit. The Soviet planes are somehow more nimble and will out turn you without appreciably losing any energy. They are also fast enough to catch up to you whilst you try to zoom away and still get hits on your fuselage, which is enough to slow you down, but not the soviet airframes.
The airframes had full parity in Alpha, all you needed was to get on their tail and fire a few accurate bursts before the plane control was degraded to the point where you were either a sitting duck, or that you were so damaged that your airframe could not cope with a replen bomb load and you’d basically drive yourself into the ground on replen.
Atm the German aircraft are suitably fragile, the soviet ones are not, and that has nothing to do with whether the IL-2 was a tank or not, if you shoot its wing off, which was not armoured it will not fly ! Atm you can barely damage it even with 20mm cannon…
At some point it may get addressed but at the moment its just very discouraging for new players. Many will just deploy the bomber and follow their bombs into the ground if there are other planes around because its not worth wasting time dog fighting, your’re better off spamming infantry at the caps on the ground - that is not a very good game design outcome.

They do have recoil. Nobody should be complaining about recoil while the Russian SMG’s are in the state they are in. Until they are knocked down to size we won’t know what needs to be done to the weapons on the other side.

If anything the 34’s, and 42’s will need to be more cumbersome to carry, but the nerfs should certainly not start with the Germans.

I disagree with any nerfs to MG34/42 at all because hassling with weapon stats would probably also transfer to other campaigns. And in this game Axis defend more and Allies attack/rush more. For decent game balance Axis need good defensive LMG to put against rushing tactics of most attackers.

Why not nerf the PPD, PPSh-41, MG34, and MG42 all in one pass? The performance disparity between such and their class counterparts are similar in severity. Comparison of various Berlin campaign guns

so glad you can read my sentence and who i was responding to

if it’s controllable then it shouldn’t be counted as recoil

which i agree they do need to change that all, hell all high ROF needs to have hard to control recoil unless mounted

Sure, it would translate to other campaigns, but the disparity in performance between them and allied/US LMGs is similar to the disparity we see in Berlin.

But unlike berlin, Germans have advantages in basically every infantry weapons category at all ranks.

›Russian SMGs are in the state they are in
Lol
They’re absolutely fine if you don’t have a eon long reaction time
Only the PPD-40 DSZ premium gives me any trouble at any point.
PPS
PPD 38
PPSh
Those are all just fine and in line with the MPs. They have a slightly quicker TTK, but I see no difference both using them and getting them used on me when playing either side. The only guns that truly stand out and break the game are the premium PPD and the rambos with MG-34s that run around and dropshot

They only nerfs they need would be applied to LMG and MMG across the board which would be removing their ADS unless mounted/prone. It would allow for even more accurate defensive fire if anything.

The stat cards do not match in game performance - you need to data mine the files to see whats coded. This is what was done in early WT days to highlight to the Devs that their poor coding had been found out and that there were blatant disparities between stat cards and game effects - this is the origin of the “russian bias” anecdotes. It was particularly vocal, when soviet ammunition was found to contain 2-3x more explosive effects than it did either historically, or irrespective of that even in their own stat cards.

Then post the disparities between what’s in the files and what is on the statcard
You can’t just screech muh slavshit bias everytime you get shit on

The PPD and PPSh-41 are very much not in line with the German SMGs, if you look at the math, it’s not just time to kill, it’s also in their low recoil relative to their damage as well, which means they are far easier to kill an enemy with in comparison to German SMGs, and are more effective at range if you control your bursts.

IMO better for better balance Panther tank should be unlocked
earlier in Berlin campaign and small arms should be untouched for both factions.Maybe only MP-40 could be unlocked at level 3-5 since, since Soviets get much better CQC smg already from the beginning.

MP40 is honestly the worst SMG Germans have in berlin, stats-wise. As for unlocking panther earlier, I’d rather not give them an excuse to add more vehicles to fill in the blanks. It’s better to replace the Panzer IVJ which is simply underpowered.

maybe not panther first but maybe replace the starting tank squad of the russians to t-34-57

I don’t screech, I comment. Just because you don’t agree with my observations you don’t have to disparage my posts.
I don’t have access to data mined files, nor did I have them in WT, other players who are more adept at these things tended to post them, so all I’m suggesting is that is hard for a leopard to change its spots. It took years for WT devs to redress their issues.
Given that WT had very little competition at the time they kind of got away with it. but there are a number of very similar games to enlisted (all be it none where you command a squad) which will pull at the playerbase if the perception of bias is not addressed.

›Both guns are 3 bullets to kill
›Slav SMG does it in .7 seconds and MP does it in .9
The recoil on the PPSh is actually felt even with it fully maxed out that one is fine
PPD should have more if anything, but nothing too spastic like it was in the CBT where you could barely hit anything outside of 10m.
Nevermind that I can hit people at range with the MPs much easier without having to prone or mount

Then stop bitching about the supposed disparities in the code vs the stat cards because you have no proof whatsoever in your favor.

Evaris just gave you some proof on the basis of his research.

Research and calculations =/= The datamined files and actual code you were on about
While useful it has nothing to do with what you were on about with “hidden modifiers” like the extra plate in the IS-6 turret that was found by datamining or Nabutso outright making shit up so Yaks could have infinite energy generation engines when near sea level.
Props to Evaris, but I don’t see how that supports your claim there are hidden things in the game’s files that contradict what the stat cards tell us without any actual proof.
I don’t DOUBT you, but you need proof to back it up.

I can tell you dint play as the Germans at all. You can tell when people that are commenting on this subject are experienced on both sides, and you are certainly not one of them.

To say that the Russian SMG’s are fine is silly nonsense that has no place in this conversation.
