Overheat and cooldown function for airplane MGs

Don’t get me wrong, i prefer playing as a pilot more than i do as a tanker …and some of you wont like this suggestion. But i think its the small step but important in balance department and maybe realism ?

But if tanks have function of having their guns heating to the point of getting overheated then running through a cooldown i believe devs should do the same for airplanes.
But obviously i also believe that damages between airplane calibers needs to be a bit more adjusted as well as the overheat function between various airplanes.

Taking into example BF-109’s fast firing cannons and MGs and say P-51’s slower firing 50 cal
Those that fire faster should have faster MG heatup, they do bigger damage to enemy airplanes and P-51’s should heat up a bit slower as it does less damage than a 20mm cannon plus it fires slower (at least in my experience)

PS - tanks MGs should heat up slower than they do now

Overheats need be removed is stupid as fuck in a fast paced cqc game, is only an anti skill feature and a nerf to german tank wo nobody asked in first place

(At least on the eng forum side)

Game like Battlefield 5 is a very fast paced game, but all MGs have overheat balance except for the light machineguns

I understand the reasoning,

But when will the cannon on the plane be able to penetrate the armor correctly and effectively in a way similar to War Thunder

True, hence my suggestion to adjust the airplane weaponry damage before overheat option is put into practice, otherwise it would be even worse than it is now

Damn right we won’t!

Tank mg overheat is broken, not a good thing in the slightest. You want planes to have a broken mechanic too???

Battlefield have huge map and is overheats actually work at the scope to slow down mg player (see BF1) for make them play more with the brain and at distance

Enlisted have 100m of map wen the one wo spam more bodies or firepower win almost all time and dev do everything for force fair play using dispersion and overheats

I dont see the point to compare the two game wo are actually made different

Well …you made a comparison first so yeah.

But i believe you’re right on that one.

Alright then …that’s all from me you guys can keep discussing if you want you made fair points already
:person_shrugging:

Maybe leave the devs as they are and see what happens in this 100m PewPewPew-Redo CQC battleground in a few more years

Tank mgs overheating makes sense actually, but not after like 20 consecutive shots

My premature ejaculation using pz IV/70(V) trying to cover it all up with lies and a smokescreen

Anyway

No they should remove it from tanks and AA guns.

Why do we need it in first place anyway?

This is a false assumption.

Bcause unlike in Enlisted, MMG actually function like MMG/ GPMGs in BFV.
In Enlisted, MG work like oversized SMGs because otherwise they are useless.

What made you think this was a good idea???

So in addition to any wooden object now being a 4 meter thick concrete wall, you want to make it even worse for using airplane MG for strafing infantry?
I hope devs don’t implement something like this, game is already made worse and worse with all these weird “balancing” making it more and more cqb fest. Now you can hide inside of the wooden shed like it’s a bullet proof bunker… why bother even having those features like material penetration at all.

I think you’re missing the point, i wasnt talking about material penetration (?)

I was talking about adding an overheat function to the airplanes’ MGs, however, the state this game is in that’s a bad idea and i havent really thought it out fully before posting it

They are related because that change already did as much “balancing” as making fighter’s MG pointless.
