Order Squad to throw Grenades

I think it would be cool if I could order my squad to all throw grenades, as it stands they don’t really help that much when I’m assaulting an enemy position. If I could hit Shift+V and instead of marking it would order that everyone throw their grenades at that point I think it would make your squadmates a lot more useful.

your squadmates are cannon fodder and mobile spawn. any kill they get is a bonus. if you make them useful, then this game would be more of a pve and/or people would constantly complain about cheaters.

Why we need squads than? Bots can be implemented as mods, running around, why player should die several times because of bots?

It is much easier to move respawns closer to the point, than to program bots to follow the player.

yeah, you gotta ask yourself how effective AI suppose to be in this game?

PPL complains about AI being incompetent in killing enemies, but this game would probably be unplayable if they were on a higher level. You wouldn’t be able to move a inch without risking being shoot. It would be a totally different game, for sure.

When we’re talking about improving AI we should focusing on commanding, navigation, and so forth. In my opinion.

Imagine, Imagine 9 WP thrown at once! Imagine doing it 3 times thanks to big grenade bags!

Thankfully bots would be too stupid to throw them in the right direction…

I mean you could (maybe still can) order bots to throw tnt at tanks.

But when doing so, the group yeet all of their tnt in 360 all around… And the tank remains safe.

Most complains I see are bout:

  • pathfinding
  • survivability

And improving those wouldn’t make the game unplayable / pve or whatever.

illusion of battlefield and full player battles. also easy kills cause casual shooter and loads of shitty players

players arent attacked by bots usually. bots just shoot other bots unless you come really close to them.

simply design choices. they wanted to have “full battlefield” and their engine is only optimized for low number of players thanks to warthunder. so they had choice of either going into engine and optimizing it for 100-150 players, or they could add 150 bots. optimizing engine and netcode is much harder than adding 150 bots into battle, specially when bots are useless. so they serve dual purpose of cannon fodder and mobile spawn.

there are numerous improvement they need.

  1. not going in front of me when i am in a fight
  2. not shooting me in the back with RMN 50
  3. not going into flames
  4. when i enter through window, they should not be going around the house to enter it, specially when there are enemies on other side
  5. not blocking my engineer structures
  6. maybe actually looking in direction of fight that is happening 2 meters from them. ffs i hate to reorient myself every time i switch bots just to die cause bot is looking in random direction.

after they fix them to actually not impede player, we can talk about further improving them.

improving pathfinding is a given in this sort of game. ffs bots get stuck in some default spawn now, not to mention some more exotic rally point locations…

They don’t last long enough to be an issue so… pretty much just a less effective Molotov throw.

if you throw 9 of them it is enoug to clear even biggest of caps, or block approach to them.

I think we agree, I would only want my bots to throw grenades when ordered, I generally want more command over my bots.

A Molotov will do that but 20x better because the fire actually sticks around for a while.

molotovs dont go through walls, molotovs dont go 3D. WP is great for clearing houses and temporarily blocking entrance. molotov is better at blocking entrance, but sucks at clearing.
