Option to spice up AI difficulty in custom games

Custom games could use a lot of work, there’s been a lot of suggestions and one of which is mine here, I would really like the option of manipulating the difficulty of bots in custom games, currently when I want to play a mod and there is no server with players, the game is practically impossible, the bots group up together on the cap point and in general the whole thing looks very bad. I also think that this way it would be easier to get the server going and more people would join it, I would be more willing to join less populated servers if bots were any challenge. There could be also an option to decrease AI difficulty as players join the server. I think there’s more reasons to why option to set different AI difficulty levels would grately enhance the gameplay for some.

as a modder of pve maker my self, without a doubt, yes.

problem is.

AI in generaly needs alot of work.
because right now, to put it bluntly, they are, headless chickens that go from point A to point B.

with no cohesive sense, or tactic other than z e r g the point.

which it would be great if AI would:

  • indipendently be able to use AA and AT guns and mortars too.

  • indipendently be able to use tanks ( and have dedicated & separated slots from players to not interefere with their spawns )
    ( i’d say airplanes too, but… there isn’t much that they would do other than do some strifes etc )

  • work together for cover more roles
    for example, hunt rallies, tanks, and generally ambush players or other AI that are not directly on the point.

  • better tactics at clearing objectives and house clearing / cqc other than going in a single line one by one the same bloody door. or even, patrol ( https://forum.enlisted.net/en/t/concept-idea-patrol-and-way-points-features-nodes-for-the-ai-soldiers-editor/124567 )

  • place more structures
    such as medkits and ammobox. considering that only defenders do that. but not AI attackers… ( as of yet ) .

  • better situational awareness when dealing with machineguns.
    such as, pop some smoke grenades when detecting machineguns that killed already more than 10 soldiers in that general direction

all of the above more or less, AI in games such as ready or not, helldiver, insurgency sandstorm, easy red 2, men of war assault squad are capable of doing. heck, even old games such as company of heroes 2 and red orchestra 2 to some extend even do.

and last but not least, really facoltative to be honest,

  • AI needs better loadouts.

and there’s quite alot work to do for that.
especially for pves which, i’m not sure how many people would actually would want those.

helldivers proved that there’s quite the market for pves, but it’s very ( and would be very ) different from enlisted.

especially since, devs for pves, intend to do the same tower defence type of gamemode like the war thunder one ( backed up by the only pve mission present in the files )

all to say, it’s unsure whether the game is worth the candel so to speak.
( aka, all the effort behind )

but anyway,

TLDR;

there are actually two type of AIs.
easy, and moderate/hard

problem is, they still need alot of work to cover most of the base functions.

and… they broke with the merge update the easy AI
( like, if you kill them, they will sort of die without ragdolls. looking like a statue. giving the impression that they are still alive until the body disappears )

I agree though I was thinking more to just increase their % to spot an enemy and hit them accurately. Especially in CQC, I thought it wouldn’t be much of a trouble. But I dunno.

well, the thing is,

you either go full on,

or nothing.

because AI in order to be:

you kinda have to foundamentally change how they behave, react, and generally, be.

otherwise you’ll just have gta V online type of AI that are somewhat dumb, but have aimbot on your head.

which as soon as you pop out, you’ll get blasted.

i’m not sure how much " challenging " that can be, or fun to the very least.

being realistic, in their movement, change tactic, and generally be able to use vehicles would drastically be a night and day over what we have.

What’s crazy is multiple other games have done this. OG Battlefront 1 and 2, Mount and Blade, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, and other old games figured out how to program bots to do basic gameplay functions better than this game does.

Few things are more frustrating than watching your bot squad get mowed down by a dude and they just stare at him blankly. Like they should react to fire and engage appropriately at the very least.

I’m pretty much sure by now that it’s intended, so that you could have relaxing game mowing bots, that’s why I’m asking to crank them up in custom games at least you could have more engaging gameplay.

you lack about repair orders, yu can’t order them fix a vehicle

Ai needs additional coding.
In game assets wont be enough.
