Operation "Earth Shield"

Yesterday I maxed out the event BP (with premium pass).

Not enthusiastic about it. I’m glad that I’m done. I probably won’t play the event anymore.

As much as the mission format brings an appreciated breeze of variety, and arranging the event as a battlepass isn’t necessarily a bad thing, the implementation and the scoring system spoil most of the fun.

  • Several people already expressed their perplexity about allowing event-themed gear in the main game, so I won’t go over that again.
  • IIRC, this is the first event in which some rewards are totally paywalled. This sets a bad precedent.
  • The “pay to progress faster” system applied to events sets another bad precedent too. It’s an obvious path towards a more aggressive monetisation scheme, making the grind for events progressively unbearable UNLESS one pays, or plays an unhealthy amount of time.

Moreover, for some reason the scoring system seems specifically designed to concentrate the highest possible number of features that we DIDN’T like in old events, and thus with time were progressively ruled out:

  • High reliance on other players’ actions.
  • 1 hour+ mandatory daily playtime (since daily tasks “spend X time in the event” are one of the main sources of score and progress).
  • Finding tokens, the main sources of progress, is (to variable extents) tied to RNG. The progress granted by completing objectives is just negligible.
  • No win = no score. 20-30+ minutes matches can result in no tangible progress regardless of personal effort.

Next, a personal opinion. I like to shoot zombies just like anyone else, BUT. Two of the aspects that got me hooked to Enlisted were/are its distinctive gunplay with very low TTK, and the relative lack of consequences for dying. This event ditches them both, making me run for my life from hordes of enemies (lest losing all my current progress), some of which can tank more bullets than I would shoot in a whole conquest match. It is NOT ENLISTED, and I therefore partially regret getting engaged in the event by buying premium BP, because due to the high playtime requirements (see above) I basically ended up forcing myself to play a different game I don’t really enjoy as much. It got repetitive soon, and now I’m quite burnt out.

Also, the reward soldiers should probably have been awarded as individual soldiers, instead of being squads. I guess the technical reason was to allow unusual loadouts like the engineer with MG, but still.

They couldn’t have special outfits (not a big loss tho).

At the end of the day I for one did really enjoy the “April’s Fools” Zombie-Event a lot more than this one (especially since it ran a lot better with no crashes etc.). It just “felt” better and played better, even if it was just one “static” map (then again if you look at the VERY iconic “Nacht der Untoten” COD map - which to this day in my opinion is still the apex for zombie-modes, both in regards to mechanics, layout, playstyle and overall look - it is not that bad).

While in general I also do enjoy fighting zombie waves (if the mechanics, layout and gameplay are good and “fitting”), I have to confess that I disliked most of what people have already mentioned in this thread.

At the end of the day it was a nice effort (with the maps and demons), but the execution was not nearly as good and fun to play as the “April Fools” Zombie event. Would like more of the latter and less of the former

Well, I unlocked the German soldier profile picture, I’m probably done with the event now since I have 3/4 of the squads (all of the ones I want, the only squad that’s sitting in my lineup is the German guy since he’s the only Engineer class that can carry an MG iirc).

I’m probably done with the event as I already have the rest of the “special” guns as TT variants and have no real reason to get them.

yep. as adam said, cosmetics are based on squads rather than individual soldiers.
hence why to make what they wanted to do, they opted for a squad. much easier and faster.

but for the rest, i agree.

cool in theory, made aweful in practice ( kinda leaning on the " made on purpose side ")

As someone who doesn’t like shooting zombies, I really hope we get an event that’s not zombies for the 3rd time, or moon battle for the 3rd time, or mech walkers or other sci-fi stuff.on April fool’s 2025.

I really preferred the more grounded events like Modern Combat and Gun Game.

I dont wanna play anymore…

Insta-death for this event, i do not envy the ones that pay for it.

Finally found a game and the altar bugged with 40min+ timer after killing the boss.

Worst event ever for the distribution of rewards

@ElKaputto Please write in English in this forum.

Can u answer my question two?
Where is the sherman in the Event? There stood, could be used in the Event. How?

Regarding event tank, we added more authentic camo to it. Could be used by anyone who bought the event sherman, but need to choose it in customization manually instead default one.

Why?

Because it’s additional one, but for future we took a lot of feedback and gained experience about creating such camos for something future and a lot more authentic.

That’s very much appreciated, thank you. :+1:

Yet event soldiers remain the same, with no way to change their looks.

It’s by design now, all wasted customization orders was refunded to players.

What?!! I hoped it’s just bugged. We can’t even change outfits of non unique soldiers in those halloween squads. As the squads are now permanently locked to only one campaign preset.

So we are forced to look at samurai outfit until some filter is implemented. Great.

this one shouldn’t be the case, non unique soldiers should be customized with out any problems.
