One way solution to half filled matches

Greetings Everyone!

I am a bit new to this place hence not sure how to best express myself but I’ll try to keep it Short and Crisp.

ISSUE

Let it be over Discord, YouTube or Reddit … all the places I’ve been hearing the issue of unbalanced matches with one team having more bots, or even if balanced still pretty empty matches.

It leads to player dissatisfaction and sometimes even frustration, No one wants a team of bots or enemies composed of mostly bots (when you note that most soldiers already on field are AI Soldiers already)

GENERAL DIRECTIVE

So far we have got multiple discussions in forums, Discord and Reddit and almost all of them reach to 2 conclusions

  1. Due to segregated player base we currently have (Device wise > Sever wise > Faction wise > BR wise) we can’t ever ensure the 100% Players vs Players, only improvements could be done.

  2. Easiest further improvement could be achieved by simply extending the “Matchmaking/Player search period” which @Augustsheep recently talked about as well in one of his posts.
    But increasing the Match Time is much opposed and is very downvoted in the community as to simply put it “ITS BORING”.

BETTER APPROACH

Have long matchmaking time, like up to 2-2.5 minutes. But don’t make the players stare at the time counter in utmost boredom, instead split it up, Let’s understand it better below :

  • Keep the Normal main menu countdown of about 30 seconds or whatever is it right now but after that don’t directly boot to the game.

  • Instead boot to something like a Briefing Screen for a minute or two

    • Show basic information on that screen like the map you going to play, The mode you going to play, players who have joined your team and enemy team or are joining.

    • An exact tactical map with first cap point location, initial enemy spawn routes and your spawn routes would be much better then a artistic picture we have.

    • More things like being able to select a “Start squad” and being able to see what your other team mates are going to bring for the start also could be a quality feature, it would allow players to plan and balance their first deployments.

    • A feature for people selecting Engineers to mark where they’ll be making rallies or allow other players to ask by making places wish a rally in.

    • Firstly, Game will get additional time which will be used to pool in more human players in the match without the cost of dissatisfaction or boredom. Secondly, It makes enlisted more tactical, strategical, more deeper and qualityful.

(See these are only some of my own thought features, Briefing screens could have much more, much different stuff as well, it’s the matter of imagination only as the concept is broad)

ENDNOTES

As per my experience most multiplayer shooters uses these type of things, some notable examples I have seen are : Free Fire, PUBG mobile, COD mobile… All those BR games do the similar things, they first do the basic match making on the main menu and after sometime put you in a pool, but the match doesn’t start as you get spawned in a waiting lobby where game takes additional 1-1.5 minutes finding more players for the game.

Yes waiting lobby space is also a solution but personally I don’t find it interesting as the concept feels childish and is boring after sometime, instead a Briefing session would be interesting plus it will add more tactical and strategy even if its just by a pinch.

actually matchmaking give you full 10v10 battles most of the times(unless you are playing with crossplay off). problem is that lots of players play worse than bots giving you an illusion you are playing with bots. also there are deserters which are replaced with bots.

Thank you so much, Actually at first even I couldn’t “Confirm” that because I don’t know how to know seeing a leaderboard that how many are bots / humans. When I asked the playerbase over other platforms I got replies like this

“Generally it’s just 60% players 40% Humans”, “there are a lot of bots, you can identify them by their movement and all” …etc

This isn’t a hard numerical evidence, if you know some way to check then I’ll try to make numerical graphs and so

i scrapped data from Gaijin Entertainment - Single Sign On and put it in database.
just change number to get more data. currently website admin and i are in war cause he is trying to prevent me from scrapping data with various anti robot measures. btw previously you could fetch last 2 weeks of data, currently you can only fetch last ~200minutes.

I read both of the posts you quoted. You did an excellent job! Even I was curious about the enlisted player count … as steam numbers aren’t complete (as it just account for steam client users)

And it lead to me believing multiple people bragging “Enlisted is dead” … Blah blah.

But but but … bro this isn’t what I asked for, I asked “how do I check the amount of bots in a said match”

For example seeing the match leaderboard is it possible to know “how many are bots”, or more advance I can see all the matches being played on Enlisted Replays website so can I know from there if in a certain match played 10 min ago how many bots were there? Because even after such active player many people still think that they are being matched with bots :frowning: so I want to collect like a avreage 50 match data of every hour and spread it in a spreadsheet to know some rough figures

userid=0 is for bots

btw this wont be accurate cause there are six servers. you can get matches from middle of night for one server where there are 19 bots cause everyone is sleeping. crossplay off(console only) is also ghost town.

Thank you for the help! I’ll look into it, also yes I’ll have to take a lot of data to make it accurate.

Any particular Data scrapper you suggest? Or I can use any ? Or I have to do it by hand?

so, that means there more players then bots playin so bad? oh boooi

They’re actually playing worse than bots. AI players are at least building rally points. Casuals do not.
