What the hell happened to the operational fields for attackers on Omaha Beach? I destroyed the left flank defensive wall with explosives 20 minutes ago, waltzed through, and found I was out of bounds and had to return to battlefield!
What’s the problem? Did the defenders complain too much that having their defensive wall breached compromised their position? Isn’t that the point?
Why even keep the destroyable walls then? Attackers can’t use them when attacking the first point, and they’re useless after that.
If you were going to change up Omaha, I’d suggest removing all the ridiculous hillocks & flotsam and jetsam. It looks more like a map from the Pacific theatre than anything like D-Day. I’d rather my squads get chewed up in a funnel of machine-gun fire than stumbling into an arbitrary wall that says, “You can’t go that way! You can blow up the wall but you can’t pass through! Fuck off!”
You can barely get into the left flank pillbox now - I don’t know why you bothered fencing that off, because I rarely encountered Germans there, even after I developed a routine of building spawn points around it.
How about instead of constraining the attackers arbitrarily, the Germans actually get a chance to defend the beach?
I’ve made a few posts before about how I think defenders should know all their defensive points ahead of time and should have more time to develop defenses, I think that would be better applied here than blocking attackers from flanking.
Omaha would be a better map if you could encounter Germans before you get off the beach.
Goodnight, love you xox
