Why do these “Quitters” get any kind of award?

Leaving is a dick move, it just seems a bit nuts they would anything at all, beyond what they kill.

Cause even they quit, they still play better than you and the rest of the players

They quit cause this team is obviously f**ked

they played 95% of the game and quit in last minute.

The 2 main justifications for people deserting are either, it’s a map they don’t like, or, they only have a hour or so to play and don’t want to spend their limited time losing with a bad team. I don’t think desertion is acceptable, but I can at least understand their reasoning for doing it.

0 squad lost…

Did you camp the entire match? (Or in a plane?)

He has engineer tag so he cannot have been a plane.

these 2 players didnt finish the match and still played better than anyone else in your team.
they contributed more social effort to the team than the remaining bad players. no one among them has the right to complain.

you didnt do too much, but at least i see rally activity and no deaths. the rest of your team has horrible stats. its a noob mentality to think that staying in a match for 20 min while getting less work done than a good player who left after 5 min has any merit, especially if such bad players then try looking down on the ones who left the bad team.
medals are given for successful work, not for participation like in schools to keep karens from yapping about their slow children not getting awards :man_shrugging:

True.

So… he was probably sniping the entire match and building a bit of stuff with his squad’s engineer.

I understand ppl to be upset at those who desert.

But I believe something can be said about those who camp the entire match as well while complaining about their team…

Anyway, to each their own.

Normally (not always but most of the time), I stick a butt kicking out just because I am trying to obtain my daily Enlisted objectives. If I have zero personal objectives, then it depends on how competitive the game is for me. If I am playing good, I stick it out regardless of how we do as a team. I ALWAYS desert when I am playing with my level three Allies and I get level five Japanese. Facing level five Japanese was not what I had selected my level three Allies for, especially since I have a very good level five Allied squad, so if I wanted to play against level five Japs, I would have chosen my level five Allies. That being said, I do stick around long enough to watch the weapons scrolling on the right side to verify the level five game, and when I see my first level five weapon, I’m gone and I’m not losing any sleep over it.

I hate the soft rule, and by sticking around just condones DF’s implementation of it, which I don’t. I get seal clubbed enough as it is playing in their 1/1 match making system, I don’t need the extra spanking I always get by becoming the level five Japanese sacrificial lamb. Plenty of bots for that role.

Arty/Engineer, the map moved really fast I kept building Rallys calling rockets

I just think anyone that deserts a match should not get anything for that match, full stop.

I know some people get all bent out shape of they think the other guy has better kit, get all but hurt over it, and some folks really get wrapped in in the win lose aspect, but if you leave, you’re a loser in my book. there are always exceptions, technical issues mom or GF freaks out about this being your 12th hour online and pulls the plug kind of thing, but baring that…

No hero awards for deserters, seems obvious, I’ll support that.

I concede I wouldn’t mind about this either

Maybe it will be the next “punishments” devs talked about, and I would not be against it.

None of your team did anything, if the only ones who come out as “heroes” are those who deserted, it says a lot about what the rest of you did.

I’m not defending them, but I would have done the same.

According to you, you are a loser for leaving a lost game surrounded by idiots in an online game??? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

for me it is dependent on when player quits. if someone quits in last minute when there is no more reinforcement or enemy is on last cap roflstomping, then he should get all awards. if he deserts in start or middle of match, then he should get nothing.

This is an important topic, although this specific match doesn’t really reflect the deserter problem. One of them being that you can possibly farm xp by building a rally point, using artillery and then leaving the game and repeating it… The others are ofc letting your teammate, that for instance just got an xp boost for that game, down and ruining the game by bots filling in your spot. And so on…

To me the only good reason to leave and to get xp back is if somebody on your team is confirmed to be trolling, in that case you should get an apology and xp/silver.

SOLUTIONS:

-On the begging of the match we vote for map and match type.

-Punishments for deserters: no xp/silver, no new game till last ends or X minutes pass, counted as a loss. maybe even a number of desertions in the stats (these shouldn’t apply if leaving after victory is declared, end-screen is taking too much time…)

-I’m open to improvements to tier system

-Possibly add matches vs just bots (PvE) for players who don’t like to lose or just want to slaughter…

but… why would one leave last minute?

only those catering for their score tab do that, no?

cause watching someone camp when you know that there is no chance for victory is infuriating.

The only reason for doing so is to keep your WR high.

This needs to be fixed. Every desertion should be automatically count as non win, thus lowering your overall win rate.
