While most players play BR2 (low) or BR5 (high tier), there are reasons to play some nations as BR4.
Japan, BR4 is highest tier, has best stuff at BR4, plus there is no BR5 (yet)
Allied BR4, you stand a chance against hight tier axis, m4a1 can pen Tigers, can even sometimes pen KT, I play BR4 to fly Corsair when I get Pacific too.
Germany, has no low tier paras at all, when playing against Soviets which have paras at low tier, same as allies. BR3 is fun and my main level for Germany, as low tier bit slow and plus I love my pz3 M.
Either devs reduce BR of Italian paras based on map br, or I might chose BR4 to counter Soviet paras, honestly I think there is no incentive for doing this as it would put me against sweaty high tier players
Soviets, I play BR3 and enjoy this I don’t see any need to go higher to match high tier and play Berlin constantly ( I think Stalingrad should be only up to BR3 IMHO)
Please just discuss value of BR4, keep it civil soldiers!
I haven’t touched BR4 since merge.
I do play some of the equipment, mostly if I don’t have something better to equip.
BR4 has so many cool weapons and vehicles that I really love but there is no reason to uptier myself by playing BR4 only.
I concur, BR 4 for German players is now a pariah BR.
I play BR 3 Germany and suck it up when drawn into BR5 games. I admit that in order to compensate for BR5 MM, I employ the AT squad with PF, which I think is ahistorical and stupid, but that’s the compromise since my PzIIIs and IVs are not competitive at BR5 and I rarely spawn them if at all. BR III planes are competitive in BR5 so there are no issues. Whilst I have historical MP40, Kar98 and MG34 load outs across the squads with an odd sprinkling of Gw41 and other gold weapons for the sake of fun, they’re also good enough for BR5.
If I want to play high end, then BR5 equipment gets slotted in and nothing from BR4 sees the light of day.
I hope Italians get carved out into their own tree like the Japanese, and once they sort out the BR to maps thing, you can keep the Italians at the lower end BR games where they will be competitive without having to stack their line up with too many fantasy weapons.
Same for the British, although as another player already posted in another thread, there is now sufficient content in game to make the British a separate national tree without any significant development effort.
The issue remains in the US tree vs the Japanese tree as there is no way of separating the ETO from the Pacific theatre in a sensible manner without causing issues for that Theater, which was a lot “lower tech”, at least on the ground, than its European counter part.
BR4 has some good weapons, but mostly it’s useless, only working for Japan.
I am right now on a BR3 madness with all my factions, i don’t care to play against BR5’s cause at the end of the day, if your teammates are good, you have a decent match despite winning or losing. I also like the possibility to play the whole pool of maps.
I’m having fun with G10, using event pz/70 but might change to panther, using Italian paras when I get Stalingrad, but not on Normandy or Ardennes, I’m just like that I guess, still try and be a bit HA. BR4 axis is quite fun, I was maining BR3 on both Soviets and axis before, but only thing now is Berettas on everyone.
This is an exception that will soon change with the arrival of Pershings and Ho Ri.
Of course if I say I only play BR2 and BR5. It means if I play Japanese, I’m actually playing BR4.
There’s no point in playing BR4 US line up tho. You lose option to take the most fun planes in the game to yout lineup and you can’t use m2 carbine.
And you’ll end up playing more against the Germans than the Japanese anyway.
But speaking of BR4, unfortunately there’s no point in taking it from MM perspective, other than for historical reasons or variety like an odd Panther G or unless you haven’t unlocked BR5 yet.
For my Soviet high tier lineup though I refuse to use fake weapons so it’s AVT-40 + PPSh-41 drum + IS-2 mod. 44 + DP-27 which on average is kind of BR 4.5.
