For a long time I’ve been noticing strange things about the amount of ammo in different weapons, I would like to share my thoughts and ask if anyone agrees.
The ammo of a weapon of the same class can be different, and there is literally no logic to it. Example: Beretta m38 by the Germans, Thompson by the US. Why does the Beretta have only 3 magazines when ALL other submachine guns have 5? (Similarly Thompson has 4 instead of 5)
Does that mean they are times better than all the other guns? I guess not. At least my experience with the Beretta told me otherwise. That many magazines breaks the logic of the pouch slots.
Playing on any gun, except Beretta, I can choose what I need more - +3 first-aid kit, a bunch of magazines, or 2 grenades, because the basic 160-200 rounds - enough to play, but sometimes I still need more. 120 rounds of ammo on Beretta is not enough for me. The situation is similar with the Thompson - 30+90. It’s already a lot more requiring extra ammo.
It seems to me that the ammunition should be made equal, because the effectiveness of the pouches changes a lot. And it would be better to equalize the ammo by the number of rounds rather than magazines, because then a weapon with a 40-round magazine would have an advantage with 5 magazines.
My second point is about the ammunition on the rifles. They have 25-40 rounds, which is extremely low. “Just buy a pouch” someone will say. It’s better to put one on almost all soldiers now, because the machine gunner, sniper, and engineer all need ammo. And if in the case of the gunner I agree on the pouch, then take it all classes - strange. And comfortable from the current is very close. If that figure ranged around 35-40 for sliding bolt rifles and 50-60 for semi-automatic rifles, there would be a choice. When I take a soldier with a semi-auto rifle, I run out of ammo 8\10 times, there is no point in taking any other pouches than ammo pouches. That doesn’t seem right.
Engineers, by the way, do not solve this problem in any way. At times I run 3-4 times to the box every 20-30 seconds, which seems like weird gameplay to me. Back and forth and back and forth.
To summarize, it seems to me that it would be worth a little more ammo for rifles and to equalize all pistols and machine guns in terms of ammo.
i assume they did it because most players will get squad wiped before running out of ammo, but an interesting fact is if you pick up the same gun then it’s ammo will be put into a stockpile thus allowing you to get more ammo
This is true, however, sometimes I just can’t pick up ammo from a body with a similar weapon. And anyway, it’s only 1 magazine, regardless of how many more magazines that fighter had left.
i assume that’s for balancing because imagine just suiciding all your gunners and getting all their ammo
I think that happens because the game considers weapons with modification as a different weapon.
For exemple, you have a K98k 1 star, you can pile up every ammunitions of a K98k 1 star.
But if you pick a K98k 2 stars, you’ll switch all of that for this weapon and remaining bullets.
