Each, and I mean EACH time I’ve stumbled on an NPC (or crossed his road after passing a corner for instance) I’ve been instantly killed by a melee weapon. No time to react or attack first, nothing. So, any chance you could tune down their ability to insta-stab actual player characters ?
be more attentive and always be prepared for a bot around the corner.
Should solve it.
Would rather have them this aggressive than just standing idle and clueless (like in many other cases).
they also know if they can throw back a nade or not
they really need to dial that back
Also get the Melee Perk to attack faster.
I think its good that AI actively smack you down if you get too close.
I also think this is good. You can counter by cooking or high arc lobbing. Its a good anti spam measure
Is a little too much sometimes
Sure. I guess I just dont give it any thought any more. I expect it…So instinct is to cook and lob (or use impact type grenades), so I dont notice this anymore
I think the AI need to be even deadlier. Usually they’re doddering around like infants and just mowed down constantly or literally farmed for xp. They will watch you peek a corner and shoot them one at a time without reacting and as for grenades you need to cook them and time it.
I love bayoneting an enemy AI only for my bayonet to phase through their body and do zero damage, while they respond by bonking me on the head with the butt of their rifle and killing me.
Pretty sure this is the exact case unless you cross the “safe space” line surrounding the bot, once you do it they unleash the super ninja turtles powers upon you.
Stay out of the bots safe space and you can pretty much build a barbwires around it and he wont hit a single shot.
Do you also want the bot to shoot himself when you get at a 10 meters range from him?
I prefer it this way than people going on a 20 melee killstreak like they used to.
idk, if we’re speaking of same timeline aka bots didnt consider you as threat if you had knife.
But back then they did actually shoot rather effectively in cqc.
Now they fair share of time just stands still while being shot at cqc but instantly deletes you with melee if you cross the safespace border.
Ideally we could have both.
But apparently devs are affraid ppl won’t like that their targets fight back.
preferably yes
And cant really blame them nor players. Since it feels like only thing they can do or will do with AI is either increase / decrease reaction times and increase / decrease accuracy.
Should just weekly increase both to find the sweet spot, bots not being entirely useless but not exactly being AI terminators either.
Since theyr attempts to improve AI has been quite meh.
I see it slightly differently. I dont think bots should be completely retarded, but i dont think they should be autonomously strong either…
I think the threat should always be the other player or the way he controls the AI.
But thats just me
Ideally AI should be really deadly when controlled by player and moderate when not controlled.
It bothers me that I can just casually yolo my way through 5 bots looking at me like in some hero shooter. I really dislike hero shooters.
I have no major complaints with bot melee at this moment.
Without focusing on it, I have 5 or more melee kill regularly. 10 or more isn’t unheard of and I’ve had 26 in a match within the month.
I’ll acknowledge that when not killing a bot with shot 1 in CQC may mean death by melee more than it did in months past… I’m OK with it. Missing should have consequences.
THIS.
My buddy had them CATCH a molotov and throw it back at him! (I guess this is why you shouldn’t try to hit them directly with the molotovs!)
Otherwise I’ve definitely had AI throw grenades back at me even when I cook them till they have one second left, they always seem to instantly throw it back.
As far as the melee goes, I’ve been putting together ideas for a post about misc. equipment, and perhaps some flak jackets could double as protection against melee to the torso?
OOF
Which arises the question, could they do the same with impact grenades too?
I believe so. I think I’ve had it happen to me a while ago.
