Now this is just silly (mg overheat)

The German premium half tracks mg can’t even fire 50 rounds before it overheats, this is even more confusing when the standard mg42 can and the engineer built version can

See for yourself:

This is even worse considering this is a paid product.

It’s been an issue. Basically every German MG overheats entirely too quickly. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve pointed this out ±9 months ago.

Somebody cleary didn’t think this through. All vehicle guns overheat way too fast.

Imo overheat should kick in after you’ve shot about 1.5-2 magazines. And cooling down should be faster.
Then it would make sense.

I would just remove it completely. It’s really unnecessary.
Just give all stationary and vehicle MGs a longer reload after each 200 - 250 shots fired.

USA .50 cal on the M13 MGMC also overheats too quick.
Less than 40 shots per barrel.
Makes no sense and I dont like using this vehicle because of the overheating.

I like the general concept. Hold the trigger like a monkey → jam. From my exerience with BFV overheat, it’s fine if done well. But it is not done well in enlisted.

Also I hope to get barrel change animations as they look cool.

Would be nice to see reload animations for tanker mgs on the turret as well

I must not have seen it, also its been a while so I suppose I wanted to draw attention to it

The gunner could just swap the barrel in 3 seconds in the MG42 :person_facepalming:

The only gun with an almost ok overheat that I’ve used is the M1919A4

Engineer MG nests don’t have as ridiculous overheat as vehicles.
Besides M1919A4 fires slowly so you don’t have to worry about overheat that bad.

Pretty much. Lol. Definitely more of a chugging RoF than a ripping one. But yeah, overheat mechanics need a nerf so mounted MG’s can do what they’re supposed to

Yes, they have shit angles in exchange :PPP

My mounted MG should have just as much depression as a teenage white girl. Lol

What they could do instead is, overheat doesn’t make your gun jam - instead it makes your gun less accurate, bigger spread, smoke and heat radiation makes it difficult to get a goid sight picture - and if at all possible - a real barrel swap mechanic could then be implemented.

I like this idea, it should be implemented for all MGs

However, you’d have issues again because the development of the MG34/42 series as a GPMG accounted for rapid barrel changes in the design process, so the barrel change mechanism for these weapons is very quick. That’s not the case for most of the other LMGs in game, many of which did not have QCBs. You’re arguably going to run into “balance” issues…from those that worship absolute gaming symmetry and are willing to sacrifice historical authenticity on the altar of gameisms.

im not a gunologist but from my understanding the only mg that should overheat quickly is the mg-42 and its brothers because there shoot extremly quickly to the point the barrels needed to be changed during battle and the one that should hardly overheat is the vickers and its brothers sense the entire barrel is water cooled but in general overheating for mgs is a problem thats way all militarys do burst fires
