A common complaint after this update has been that for multiple games after the update was launched, the game was extremely lagging and having stuttering/frame drops. I’ve seen it a lot on the subreddit, it happened to me for probably 2-3 hours last night (with a i9 and 3080), and several of my friends too. The issue seems to be that shaders were being recompiled and caches, but we had no way of knowing that.
I think it would be beneficial if, when this happens after updates, a notification appeared on the lobby telling players shaders are being compiled with an active percentage so players know not to start games until it is done. I’ve played other games that do this (like COD) and it’s beneficial to know that performance issues aren’t because of optimization or my system, but that I just need to let the game do its thing. The active percentage would let the player anticipate how long before they can play a game with stability as well so that they don’t just see “Shaders compiling” and sit there in a void.
