Notes by a French gunner Sherman for the use of the APC M61 75mm bullet against German tanks. This is an actual real notice from 1944. I thought it would may be for interest for one or another in this forum.
The notice are about:
-in black on the left “perforation in meters”
-in red on the right “perforation in yards”
-in red at the bottom “those values decrease with inclination of the wall”
What annoys me is the shermans ingame dont have the m61 apcbc, they only have the m72 which is a solid ap shell with no explosive filler, okay pen but terrible post pen damage, the german tanks have apcbc, with good pen and great post pen damage, To one shot witht he sherman, you either have to get lucky with post pen shrapnel and kill the crew, hit the ammo rack, or hit the fuel tanks and light it up . the tunisia sherman is fine since the m61 wasnt issued then but the normandy 75 shermans should have it as standard issue
damn shame that we don’t have m61, but instead the m72 training round
