so basically @8894782 (Quadro) inspired me to think about some “balance” in normandy campaign. I still think that limit full-auto weapons is only good solution (not just in this campaign) but i think that this will never happen. Soo at least they could make some of the weapons balance like this:
AXIS ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ALLIES
FG42 (will be gunner class) and it will compare to BAR A1
FG42 II (will be gunner class) and it will compare to BAR A2
MP43/1 (will be riffleman class) and it will compare to M2 carabine
Mauser C96 carbine (will be riffleman class) and it will compare to M1 carabine
MG34 - MG42 (will be gunner class) and it will compare to M1919 Browning machine gun
In case of Mauser C96 carbine and M1919 Browning machine gun they need to make new models of guns but in cost of balance it is worth time.
Mauser C96 carbine is WW1 weapon i know but it was issued to some support unit early and in other hand it is same class of weapon like M1 carbine.
MP43/1 vs M2 carabine will be more balanced than FG42 vs M2 carabine and i think that M1 and M2 should have less recoil because it use very small cartridge that don’t have such kick power. STG should recoil little bit more than M2.
MG34 - MG42 vs M1919 Browning machine gun: M1919 Browning machine gun only with 100 round belt vs MG34 75 round box magazine and MG42 50 round box magazine.
Some SMGs should have been also changed, for example: Thomson should be much much earlier in USA campaign. STEN should be removed or maybe be latter unlock. FNAB and ZK should be deported to diffrent campaings (ZK to moscow) (FNAB to tunisia). But i don’t want overhaul whole campaign because they don’t do that anyway, in my opinion. I just want to discuss about balance of weapons, like it should be. Also i dont think about on which level of campaign you should unlock which weapon but it’s up to DEVs.
MP43/1 vs M2 carbine, small complain that i have about such change: I think these weapons should be limited because it will be CQB full auto fiesta in every house of normandy (take note that STGs in general was issued to every assault soldier in WW2 so it will be more historically accurate than FG42) And in this case, I’m afraid everyone would only use these two weapons (like FG42 now).
Just no. Don’t jump from one bs to another.
MP43/1 is fine as Assaulter weapon, so would be M2 carabine.
The whole problem with FG42 and similar guns is that those are automatic weapons issued to classes that should not carry such guns. So moving one of them to proper class but giving another very powerful full auto gun in its place is not the right way.
The few people that play Axis need FG42 and MP43 much earlier to stand a chance against the alliance hordes. Outnumbered in every single game when I play as Axis. I have no symapthy for the useless players that complain about FG42. Every single russian runs around with 71 bullet pew pew gun, how about you nerf and remove that one to increase variation.

also feck the allies really need something better at level 32 give them the Thompson M21/28 with a 50 round drum magazine. Instead of just a Thompson M1 the allies are really out gunned in the Normandy campaign.
Yea but this topic is about normandy which was one of my favorite campaigns before full auto weapons destroyed it completely. And i m mainly play gremany in normandy and i still use Mas and Shitbechers they are my in love weapons
Numbers problem, Axis got crap weapons until the end of campaign when they are redundant, so almost nobody play Axis. I have yet to be killed by fg42 in Berlin and I am close to max level russian. The only campaign where win/loss is reversed is Normandy and its an endless whine about fg42.
according to history ? SMGs are not that big of a deal in this game at least for me , but there should be a limit on which SMGs you can have in squad, like you can have all of SMGs in there but one of each kind, no two the same ones, or only if the SMG is too powerfull then only one of its kind could be in squad
i dont snipe nor using smgs on long range i have rifles on assaulters for that, but yeah they are played pretty much, im all down for limiting full auto weapons like FG or AVS and such, and maybe one SMG per squad could do the trick but i doubt they would do such major changes, at least some more realistic mode that would include this things could be here
id like to see how would playerbase react if they would be limited to use only one assaulter squad in the active battle roster , and every one of the 4 assualters would be forced to use different SMG, but it wouldnt matter if a whole new mode would be dedicated to realism
