Normandy tweak ideas

Before I go into proper suggestion phase, I might need to refine my… or our, jumbled mess of ideas into a proper suggestion-worthy text. So, comments and suggestions are welcome.

I kind of got… bored of Moscow campaign - you can find my not yet finished review here:

Details

I suppose, having somewhat of a fresh start is a nice thing in campaigns - since in Moscow, there are so many well-equipped and fully filled squads, to the point that… I start to think that they are just too good for me. Basically, I decided to go with a more diet-squads approach - minimum or near-minimum amount of soldiers, so that they could fit into a 4-seated kubelwagen car, though, I’m thinking about using 9-man riflemen squads so that opel blitz trucks wouldn’t be a waste either.

Anyways, on to the topic at hand:
Historical background snippets
Assuming that enlisted at least tries to follow history - stats on some weaponry and it’s presence leaves some folks questioning this (Mkb early assault rifles in late 1941/early 1942 Moscow as an example) - the first place to look is here:

Which should translate to roughly - Western allied invasion forces,
versus axis’ somewhat underequipped garrison force:

Since enlisted does not really aim for that much accuracy, as history is not really that fun (unless you’re special kind of fetishist or masochist) when looked into closelly, it is understandable that the average (axis) player would complain if he/she would get blown to shreds several times over by (allied) naval artillery, air support, more numeric and better equipped land forces.
But anyway, there are a couple of places where we can put some logic into it:
we can make osttruppen as starting squads, maybe even giving them the soviet-made equipment. This would spice up the axis campaign, make it stand out of others. Would be an… interesting choice, to make them speak Russian as well.

Considering that we also have the option to transfer weapons in some campaigns, perhaps this mechanic can be used to transfer weapons from Moscow to Normandy campaigns? It may appear as weird of course - seeing PPSHs in the axis hands, when it was an allies weapon. Lend-lease went from west to east after all. Nonetheless, the option is here.

Not to mention about captured equipment from France.
And frankly, I think captured french equipment here would make more sense even balance wise:
Hotchkiss H35/39 and/or Renault R35/40 Versus M5 stuarts:
to keep the sources varried, here’re not wikipedia links

Basically, all of these early tanks would be… somewhat of a fair fight - both would be too weak to meaningfully damage another, so this would incentivize the beginning players to try flanking, rather than try to beat it head-on.
The 2nd tier unlockables could be the Somua S35 and Char b1 bis tanks for the axis:

As for allies, I’m thinking about M8 scotts and M10 Wolverine tank destroyers, but maybe You folks have better ideas?

Anyway, it’s a large bulk of text and ideas, so I think I’ll expand it on in further comments here.

One possible compromise for Normandy invasion battle would be to make it a somewhat special conditions battle - axis forces here would simply have to buy time by delaying the allies for as long as possible, to affect the hypothetical future of the conflict. But I digress.

I guess I’ll also add a list of topics worth mentioning, though, I’d need to search for them again.

normandy axis doesnt need spicing… if anything allies in normandy need spice to have actual players in them… also early game equipment isnt really problem in normandy. it is late game equipment where you have panthers, tigers, ju188 (with its broken aimbot), jumbo and p47 where you have balancing issues.

also you are trying to have light tanks do flanking, but did you actually try to understand normandy maps? most of them just dont allow flanks. either you have lots of cover where you cant flank tanks, or gray zone is impeding progress or you have various debris that removes mobility from tanks. simply normandy maps are designed for vehicles to have full frontal battles. sure sometimes you can sneak on someone who went too far in, but that is rarity that will die from explosive packs sooner or later.

and just want to say that m8 and m10 are shittiest tanks cause of their exposed commander and their crew logic. you can lose most of your crew to random rifleman.

I just want Spitfires added to Normandy to combat 109s Fw190s

As a start they could add British squads like Tunisia because Britain and the Commonwealth were there too. I don’t use any of the British content in Normandy because the only faction is America

If it were to me, I’d remove the higher tier ground vehicles from Normandy - this means no tigers and panthers - the best that axis could get would be Panzer 4 J or G (or H as, perhaps premium), maybe jagdpanzer 4;
Versus M4 shermans (and I wouldn’t add jumbos, with extreme armor, just those with 76 mm guns); although, that is debatable.

As for maps themselves - they need improvements and ways to flank around.

As for M8 and M10… Perhaps You have better ideas, then?

Axis does need some spicing up because I wish they added more French weapons to use.

and that would be historically inaccurate. think that normandy campaign encompasses all of the operation overlord, so from june landing till 30. august. and germany had more than 400 panthers in france in that time period and over 100 tigers. replacing those iconic tanks for shitty outdated french captured tanks is stupid. we will see those when invasion of france gets added.

I meant small arms only.

Eh…
No.
Frankly, I’d separate Invasion of Normandy from ‘Liberation of France’ - Invasion of Normandy should be more beginner-player friendly area, while going deeper into France is where, putting in Mitten Squad’s words: The real game begins.
And in that deeper area - You are welcome to have fun with the tigers, panthers and anything that both sides have for counter.

Come to think of it - maybe invasion of Normandy could be like, PvE zone for allied players, as it wouldn’t really be fun for the axis, if my earlier suggestion:

is tossed out of the window.
