What area inspired Le Bre? I tried to find the origin of every map and couldn’t find anything like this one.
Just a random area with some towns?
Perelle Village seems like a weird name for the map. Perelle is a handful of houses in (48.938504N, -1.204707E), but doesn’t seem to match the map in question since the area is so far from the original Normandy landings
I like the Normandy maps… What i dislike as a new player, and my friend, he’s new aswell, on pretty much all the maps, as soon as you spawn as forexample axsis, allies spawn like 10-20 meter away. You don’t even has 5 min to build something to defend. I mean, at least give axsis 2-5 min build time before allies can start attack. It’s not fun getting destroyed as soon as you spawn in.
Eeeey also here this night me and my friend playing this normandy where there are some bunker in that airfield map, so me and my friend went down to the bunker and some idiots blocked the doors so we had to surside because even when we build a sandbag at the whole into the bunker we could not jump up on sandbag and out of the bunker.
You are right, Le Bre is actually Colleville, I just realized that’s correct because the two maps (Le Bre West and Colleville Farm) overlap greatly too. So that’s identified, thanks for finding that.
La Perelle may be just some random village further from the coast. Hard to identify, and the map it’s in is one of interior, with Caen-Carpiquet airfield, Saint-Lo city 's train station, and the misterious Omer.
By the way, do you know what’s the inspiration for Omer map? Saint-Omer is a tiny village nothing like the town in the game.
Toeville-sur mer is the most similiar(however i belive omer is inspired by the coastal french city with a river as la parelle is insperid by rural village)
I just wish there was a way to start a map from the 0 on the editor and they gave us the option to lay roads… And I would build an amazing carentan map just by memory alone from all this years of ww2 content lol…
That would be awesome. There’s no Utah or Sword Beach representation or Canadian squads and there really should be some, maybe adding Utah beach force in some new maps created by users and balanced by darkflow.
I wish they explained their inspirations a bit better with the name being the closest example among their inspirations.
Renaming Le Bre as Colleville would be important, right now the name Le Bre is just incorrect, and they’ve already used Colleville for this same map section, correctly identifying the buildings to the ones in the real life Colleville-sur-mer.
Renaming Omer to Trouville-sur-mer (although one side ofthe river would technically be Deauville) would clear confusions a bit too.
And yeah, they’re free to use any city name, its a game referencing the history event, so the reference is allowed for use afaik.
Thanks for all the help ID-ing sites, gastanofrizzi
