Normandy axis is borderline unplayable

Normandy Axis is one of my favorites. I’m not finding it any worse really. There have been a handful of games we’ve lost because of Allies bumrushing, but you just have to adapt tactics. I run at least two squads with engineers in them just for building the spawn points. If you get two or three players who are all consistently building spawns, you’re golden because then everyone can get in close to the objective fairly quickly.

I agree with you for that reason I stopped playing that campaign it became unplayable I always lost, to win we always used to steal the enemy’s weapons because they were too broken!

I have to admit that the campaign of the axis in normady was great fun but it managed to nerf the german weapons and the spark was lost, a great example is: G43

Yeah, but higher-level firearms apparently go to the Axis, which is small consolation if you’re like me and just around level 14-18, where the Allies have the edge, but I’m still doing alright and I’m by no means an ‘excellent’ player. Just fairly good (usually). I usually get about 40-50 kills, with a good game getting about 80. Though every once in a while I just get demolished and barely get 20-25, but usually when that happens the whole team is usually getting equally demolished so I just chalk that up to getting a match against a whole bunch of really good players. It’s a lot more playable now for me than the at the very start where I had to get used to bolt-action rifles and didn’t know any of the maps.

That said, I’m not a big fan of the Gewehr 41 so far, since the recoil on it is very rough. I tend to just stick to assorted bolt-actions I have and try to maintain some range. Most of my soldiers don’t have enough levels for the relevant perks to minimize recoil, nor are most of my firearms upgraded enough to help on that count. Though I’ve seen a few recent videos where it’s recoil looks far more manageable, so in time I’ll get to the point where I can use it with perks and upgrades

It’s sooo fun when half my team has Springfields and Stuarts and were getting our arse kicked by Panthers and Ju188s. Oh wait… They suffer.

It happens equally on both. I’ve been in Normandy for a long time (almost 1k games split between 2 factions) and I’ve faced dual jumbos with a20 spam, panthers with Ju188 spam , and all things in between.

The Jumbo was the first cause of the problems in Normandy, population is the second.
When the Jumbo sat un opposed it had a heavy favoring for the Allied Veteran players and very limited Axis population.
That coupled with no MM meant you had a good 5 to 7 live allied players vs 3 Axis most of the time.

Instead though, of fixing the root problem with the campaign, they opted to counter with the Panther , and that did 2 things.
It brought many Axis Vets back to Normandy and moved the balance needle the other way.
It was the wrong move, but there is no putting it back anymore. So hopefully they re balance and add in items that are equal on both sides.
I’ll never say one side or another suffers, but I can say that it was an uphill battle early in Normandy for Axis, and now it is for the Allied side (all team and live player dependant though).

The map rotation is my only problem with Normandy, I hate the map with the railyard, am I’m starting to get tired of the map with the church, it’s just constantly those maps and makes me not want to play it.

Totally agree. People who make these kind of threads have not really played both sides of the campaign.

Normandy Axis was my first campaign, and I remember the Jumbo problem too well. Back in the days, before they fixed the bombs, there was no way for Axis side to hide from 500lb bombs. If a bomb landed within 60m from you, you died, period.

Yeah the A20s were very deadly. Now its rockets. But its a little more survivable at least.
