Nicknames Getting Shown?

Does anyone else see the other players nicknames? . I think I read in some text in the game that the names are private, if so why such a battle to get nicknames if nobody is going to read who the hero is?

I have yet to see a custom nickname populate on my screen from another Hero…

You can see in the screenshot I am “The Inspect0r”

Press Tab while in battle or scroll down the aftergame score.

Yes the game says only you can see the changed names.
That’s why I dont bother to change any.

Only you can see your custom names. It’s a pointless feature.

Not true I have seen other people’s, not sure if because they are in my squad though…
