I would like to suggest adding some new squad commands to help give more control over your squad instead of having them run around like crazy, yelling like it’s an opera house, or targeting the first enemy they see when they should be following you. As it is, there have been a number of times when I’ve tried to flank an enemy position, when my squad mates lag behind, targeting who ever enemy they see that I can’t, or sneaking around in a building and hearing them randomly yell: “URA!” or “Yippee Ki Yay!” or similar and I’m like: “Dude… Shut up!”
Hence, I would like to suggest new squad commands to give you more control over what you want your squad to do. Starting with:
Defensive mode.
In this mode, your soldiers will not fire at the enemy unless they are fired upon. This does not mean your soldiers need to be shot or killed before they shoot back, but rather if the enemy is shooting in your general direction. In this case, your soldiers will fire back, but will attempt to keep following you. This would be useful if you are trying to flank an enemy position, trying to navigate to a good sniper nest, or just trying to navigate to a zone without your soldiers lagging behind.
Offensive Mode
This basically gives your soldiers the go ahead to target enemies of opportunity as found ingame right now.
Stealth Mode
This is gives your units the order to not yell or scream as they follow you. Useful when navigating buildings or other close quarters without giving your position away by yelling and cheering. This could be combined with Defensive mode if you want a little extra stealth.
Coordinated Fire
This will give your units the order to attempt to attack a single target that you have marked. They will actively search for an enemy where you marked it (V key by default) and attack it. Alternatively, this could also function as a way for them to attack the most immediate threat, such as an enemy squad rushing your location. This would also be useful for sniper squads as your sniper squad mates can also actively target enemies in the zone that you marked.
All in all, more control of your units (without it being overwhelming) would be a welcomed addition.
