So, lets say all our german smg squads have stg 44 . Then this means we will only be able to play 1944-45 maps with them ?
Even if we assume we will have some kind of hiatorical accuracy, there are still big problems:
lets say a new player starts with pz 2 from moscow
Pz 2 was designed in 30s and used throught the war.
So are we going to see new players with their pz2s have to deal with is2 tanks in berlin or any 1944 maps ?
Or
Will basic mosin carrying rifleman squad from moscow will show up in berlin ( since mosin was designed in 30s) with einter uniforms alongside with avt users with summer red army uniforms ?
Or british guys with their desert uniforms in battle of the bulge( winter season) ?
No more diversity of gameplay , no more campaign charm like tunisia for ex … no just a mix of all not fun
I understand everyone’s concerns but we all have to remember that everything is still being worked on and are likely to be changed, tweaked, etc over time. I’m sure in time it will be overhauled
But on the bright side this new system could allow certain content to appear in games without the need of “strict” campaigns
For example, the Panzerwerfer 42 is a Premium in Normandy and the vehicle was used on the Western and Eastern fronts. Back then I would think to myself how cool it would be to have it available on all relevant campaigns but then I thought they wouldn’t just add the same Premium 3 or 4 times. Now with this new system I’m sure we’ll be able to take the Panzerwerfer everywhere from Normandy to Market Garden to the Bulge to Eastern Front. Or Tigers in Tunisia
We’ll just have to see how this new system evolves
yeah it’s sad and bad.
It feels like a matchmaker overrules diversity, charm and historical accuracy.
That’s not a good thing.
I do understand something was needed to be done. 36 different queues was never gonna be a good solution in the long run.
But if this new MM-system are more or less precise how things gonna be in this future they could
honestly at least have kept every campaigns’ unique squad load out even if you’re global queueing
Let’s say you queue as USSR, you will either be send to Moscow/Stalingrad/Berlin.
If matchmaker send you to Stalingrad you’ll have your Stalingrad load out. This will prevents historical inaccuracies and also keeps the uniqness of every location you take battle in.
My take is that they wont make it WT-like but make them campaign-specific and maybe give a bonus if you are about to unlock already unlocked stuff. So far the generic approach does not make any sense but I grant Fox that he doesn’t have a real fucking clue either because the devs seemly just “came” with the “new” idea (which already existed on the forum and in WT).
no mosin was a 1891 design with the earliest one we have in game being pre ww1
I’m just saying if they can drastically change the game once they certainly can do it again. Who knows maybe they’ll end up scrapping this and going back to campaigns in a couple months. I was honestly surprised they were going to drastically change the game in the first place
There was so MANY THINGS to do before do this mess
How would you fix playerbase splitting then? Because if they didn’t change it this game would die a slow death. I have been playing since CBT and I couldn’t stand playing campaigns I like for them to only be BOT farms because nobody was playing them. They wanted the popular campaigns. We cannot continue to split the playerbase across multiple campaigns. It’s unsustainable
No, who told you that?
No, new players will play against other new players with similar equipment.
Vehicles and weapons are no longer tied to particular eras, but to counteract that you can’t face later war weapons/vehicles with early war stuff.
The update as a whole is great.
Historical accuracy does not work for games unless they are trying to be a milsim or they’re a SP/co-op game.
As it should.
That would be a ton of micromanaging for a new player to learn and it wouldn’t work with the tech tree system. What are you going to do, lock people from parts of the game until they unlock certain equipment? That would be a great way to drive people away
from what i understood in the large topic:
- there will be 1 global queue for nations
- you will be matched against similarly equipped opponents based on conditional rating (not current star rating for campaign unlocks). so stuart will be matched against puma and is2 will be matched against king tiger
- depending on your equipment some campaigns are more likely (so equipping stg44 will give you more chances for berlin or normandy), but you could still end up in other campaigns
- if MM cant find opponent in some time, it will match you to closest queue to your conditional rating.
now there are some specific questions that will need to be answered, but it will be in dev blog part 3.
It would work perfectly fine with the new tech tree. Idk what you mean?
All low gear unlocked for Soviet in Moscow are availble in Stalingrad and in Berlin.
There is no micromanging. Three squad load outs - like today.
yeah, something like that.
From what I understand there are three different matchups:
-
US (+Commonwealth) vs GER (+ITA) - > Battles take place in maps of Tunisia and Normandy
-
USSR vs GER - > Battles take place in maps of Moscow, Stalingrad and Berlin
-
US vs JPN - > Battles take place in maps of the Pacific.
If you queue as US you will etiher fight GER (+ITA) or JPN and be sent to maps of Tunisia/Normandy or The Pacific
If you queue as USSR you will only fight GER in maps of Moscow, Stalingrad or Berlin.
If you queue as GER you will fight US or USSR in maps of Tunisia, Pacific, Normandy, Moscow, Stalingrad or Berlin.
If you queue as JPN you only fight US and only be sent to the Pacific maps.
From what I understood from the OP, they want equipment/vehicles locked to certain campaigns.
Shouldn’t happen imo
I hope it will
Agreed
Well we don’t want all gear locked to certain campaigns
For example I would love to be able to use PTRS 41 in Berlin which would easily make sense since the weapon was created before 1945
But a T-34-85 in Moscow makes 0 sense since it’s 4 years too early for it.
We just want equipment restricted by date, not by campaign.
So if they make new campaigns then the gear goes off year not individual campaign.
Unless it’s super unhistorical such as Federov in Berlin because they were all gone by that time.
If it makes since for it to be an option, then it will be fine. Just don’t want to see something like the Jumbo in the Pacific. But if PTRS was still in use during Berlin, then why not.
Unless you realize that some nations, Italy and Japan, will always face newbies because their equipment sucks. Unless we really put Japanese high end gear on the same level as a freaking Jumbo.
Devs know better about balance than me, so who knows.
We’ll have to wait for more information on the subject, but your point does hold weight
