There is BLACK HOLE between new players and veterans. People who get M5 Stuart/M4 Sherman won’t grind when they are massacred by high tier players. I’m not taling about matchmaking - we don’t have player base to do this. Just give players balanced tanks. Make tanks like Stuart/Puma optional to play and give players at start M4 (with 76mm gun) and Pz IV. I even don’t know what to do with Panther, if you think M10 is right opponent i will say one thing - “XDDD”
In this match tankers were getting out of the vehicles because they doesn’t have space to move!!!
i already knew panther was going to be an issue before it was added because it’s gun is good, it’s got good armor and good speed. jumbo on the other hand only has one of them and that is armor
I massacred about 3 Jumbos in this match, without single death. Now when they added all HUD to lone fighters it’s even easier. There were no more of them, because 80% of players have M5.
yikes, it sounds worse than i thought since i was aware of each shell the allies used jumbo and sherman uses m72 solid shot btw so i could easily deal with jumbos in the panzer 3N
just like the jumbo it self, i highly doubt the panther will go.

so, the only thing that can actually ““save”” the game could be matchmaker. but even there, it depends how is going to be implemented. cuz back in the Q&A they said that it was going to be per campaign level… which i don’t think it’s a good idea, but until then, we’ll see.

Yeah, in real life the issue with the panther was to have one that worked in the first place. At the end of the war, those tanks where more reliably designed, yet the poor quality of the materials used and the lack of fuel made them borderline useless.
It’s not as simple as that imo. This is not a tank focused game and as such it’s not enough to think just about the tanks. In this game tanks fulfill the role they did in real life: Infantry support vehicles. Any random dude with a det.pack can blow up any tank they meet. That is of course if they meet.
Gray zone camping is a problem because of this. With the beaches it’s also a case of there not being any cover for their tanks. This also provides any uncontested Jumbo player to just farm kill from the beach (happened to me so don’t argue that’s not a problem). No matter how many Pz IV.s started fighting him they all died until I had enough and jumped in my Pz IV J. I sniped him from our gray zone to theirs.
In this game player skill is the main thing separating good and bad players. He got great scores in that Jumbo, yet he sucked a lot (I will never call someone who has no idea how to angle a good tanker). First time I killed him he refused to move, just turned the turret while I shot his side a few times. 2nd Jumbo took around a minute until he realized he should turn his hull towards me. Since he didn’t angle I sniped his front weakspot, ez. The only reason I didn’t die is because I angled my Pz IV’s hull.
Recently played on the same map. Jumbo intelligently stood behind the boat, hiding vulnerabilities. I shot about 10 times, but could not target the vulnerable areas. The tanks that flew forward I was killing, but they were doing it all wrong. I think we won, but that player made 200+ kills and used his technique intelligently to almost lead the team to victory. In turn, I gave 100% to stop him.
You have a lot of ways to beat a panther, the jumbo holds its punch very well. The problem is the low skill of the players.
A matchmaker wouldn’t save anything. Some people refuse to acknowledge their own faults and blame it on everything they can. They can blame it on equipment now, then they could blame it on the matchmaker and so on…
Any type of matchmaker will have it’s drawbacks and most likely the ones demanding a matchmaker will still be angry because it didn’t do what they expected (which is usually easy wins for their main army). A campaign level based matchmaker will just absolutely destroy most of what makes this game fun and interesting since fighting all the same things all the time will get boring quite quickly.
The only solution I could think of that would fix the issue most people talk about (new players getting destroyed in their first matches and leave) would be a Newcomer gamemode/playlist/whatever where only newer players fight eachother. The only thing we need to find out at this point is how to do it (based on base xp earned or number of matches played or something else).
like, blain all much you want loosing every matches, but if your opponent has roughly your same equipment, don’t know what and how much can complains about to be honest.

a matchmaker based on equipment points ( for example, i got an ammount of 760 points for example, which are included smgs, soldiers ecc. where basically each equipment has a certain " score " point ) will avoid of people having different equipment.
an example could be, if a new player has equipment that reaches 300 points, will not face enemies with equipment made out of 700 points, and therefore face perhaps enemies of a range up at 400 points and not below 300 points.
this is balance based on equipment, not campaign level.

Now I don’t see the problem. Jumbo is still hard to penetrate, even with a panther from a distance. Can break my cannon easily. allied aviation almost always dominates, so I need to think about not having a bomb dropped on me.
I am not complaining about the current situation.
panther dominate jumbo in every single scenario. if you have to think so much where to shot a jumbo inside a panther, you are doing something wrong.
and why the hell do you even want to disable the gun on the jumbo when you are inside the panther?..
game its clearly unbalanced for the axis on jumbo vs panther scenarios.
oh jumbo did have more weakness like a shitty cannon for anti tank duties, m72 only has about 92mm of pen and is solid shot, as well as a low speed so the issue with jumbo is an issue with all tanks gray zone camping
New players need to learn to communicate to players that have been playing a while. If there is a panther or some heavy tank bothering them and they have nothing to kill it, I will gladly suicide and spawn in a a-20 or p-47 to kill it. This game should still require some sort of communication and cooperation to win.
