New Planes for Tunisia (P-40 + BF 109 Tropical)

TLDR: Please introduce the P-40 and BF 109 (Tropical) to the Tunisia Campaign as fighter bombers.

I suggest adding two new planes to each side of the Tunisia Campaign: one premium, and one in the F2P tree.

F2P Planes suggestion:
Allies: P-40F-10
Axis: BF 109 G-2 (Tropical)

Premium Planes suggestion:
Allies: P-40E-1
Axis: BF 109 F-4 (Tropical)

The P-40’s and the tropical BF 109’s were extensively used in the North African theater, and it would be great to see them in-game as it feels weird not seeing such iconic aircraft of the campaign not present. My suggestion is for the better versions of each plane (P-40F-10 and BF 109 G-2 Trop) to be in the main campaign, so that the slightly worse versions would be premium (avoiding it being P2W in any way). This way the dev’s can be supported by the premium purchases, but also ensuring that F2P players don’t miss out on such iconic vehicles. The P-40E-1 could be an RAF/British plane, as this variant was mainly used by the RAF in North Africa, and War Thunder already has an official skin for the 112th Squadron which served there (seen in historical pics below, they’re the P-40’s with the shark faces). The P-40F-10 could be a USAAF/American plane, as it was mainly used by the USAAF; also War Thunder only has a USAAF skin for the P-40F-10 and I doubt the devs would bother developing a skin for it just for Enlisted.

For all planes suggested, I think they should be added as fighter bombers (i.e. with a bomb attached). Damage models for planes are currently pretty bad, so pure Air Superiority fighters are pretty terrible in game (i.e. Fw 190 and Spitfire). The bombloads aren’t that big on these planes, so they would still be worse than the rockets/bombloads on the dedicated attackers in-game, but at least wouldn’t be as useless as the pure fighters we currently have in the campaign. The in-game bombloads would be pretty fairly matched: BF 109’s could carry a 250kg bomb, and the P-40’s could carry a slightly smaller 500lb bomb.

For the devs: all four of the suggested planes exist in War Thunder, so the assets could be reused without needing to make new vehicles from scratch. Both the P-40 and BF 109 are incredibly iconic aircraft and I’m sure would be popular and worth the investment of implementing: F2P players would definitely grind for these, and whales (such as myself) would definitely purchase the premium counterparts.

Good choices and probably at least one of these will be in Tunisia, but whatever fighter they will add must have some bombs.

250kg for the 109’s, 500lb for P-40’s. Roughly similar bombloads (250kg vs 227kg).

I like it, but there are already so many bf-109s in this game. I’d rather see more Italian aircraft in Tunisia myself.

Good point, I didn’t think about that! If you wanted italian planes, there are two Re.2001 variants that could be implemented as a counterpart to the allies P-40. Both were in service during the time of the Tunisia campaign. The Re.2001 was one of the main fighters used by the Regia Aeronautica. Pretty fair matchup against the P-40E-1 and P-40F-10. Both Re.2001’s I mention are already in War Thunder, so the assets already exist and could be ported to Enlisted without needing to create new vehicles from scratch. All the fun of a C.202 style plane, but with bombs.

If they’re adding P40 it needs to be an American squad, right now the British completely dominate the tank line, and they practically dominate aircraft besides the single P38

There were three aircraft carriers in the Mediterranean flying squadrons of SBDs supporting the north African campaign, so it belongs more than some of their other questionable choices
