Starting out, a suggestion i think would be well received would be the Sino Japanese War, pitting the Soviets and the Japanese against each other. Another possible front would be the US advance through Italy, getting more use out of the Italian squads already in game.

the sino japanese war was the conflict between china and japan, not russia
besides, the developers are literally already making new content for japan versus russia
