I’ve seen a few posts in the mess room from people who are bored with the game, or want new maps or game modes; however, creating new maps can be time consuming for the devs. However, I have some time-saving ideas that the developers already have in their toolbox.
SUGGESTION
I have a new game mode in mind for a “Search and Rescue” mission, or “Prisoner Rescue” mission: In this game mode, an actual player is being held captive in a building on the enemy side of the map. They cannot leave the building until their teammates break into the room where they are being held captive. Once released, the prisoner will be provided with a single weapon and have to decide if they want to be escorted back to their headquarters (on their team’s side of the map) by their teammates—or, go it alone and try to evade the enemy by themselves while making it back to the headquarters.
If a prisoner is shot and killed while escaping back to headquarters, the prisoner will only be downed on the map—not completely killed, like in the current Halloween event; however, the prisoner will not be able to crawl all over the map: They will be restricted to a 10 meter radius. To continue their escape, they will have to be revived by a team member. Prisoners who are downed will be marked on the map so their teammates can find them.
Each map will have 3 prisoner escapes—each going deeper into enemy territory—that will have to be successfully executed by the friendly team in order to win the game.
PRISONER OPTIONS
Sitting in a room for long periods of time could become quite boring for an actual player. Thus, the captive room could be left empty until the friendly team crosses into a specified radius from where the prisoner is being held (such as 25 meters), or until the door to the prisoner’s room is breached by friendly players—at which point the prisoner is free. When one of these conditions is met, one player from the friendly team will be removed from the battlefield and will become the prisoner.
Before the game starts, players can volunteer to be the prisoner. If there are several volunteers, then one person will be chosen randomly to be the prisoner when the time comes. If nobody volunteers, then the game will randomly choose somebody to be the prisoner.
TIME SAVING IDEAS - MAP OPTIONS
To save the developers time from creating new maps for this new game mode, I suggest using current maps—but, change their orientation. For example, if a current map is played with a north/south orientation, then simply change the playing orientation to east/west. You’d be surprised how a simple change like this can make an old map new again.
Everything else is already in the game, and the minor changes that are not should be able to be coded quite easily.
