New game mode - Breakthrough

Breakthrough

A = attackers
D = defenders

In Assault attackers must control all points in the sector to capture the zone.

In Breakthrough attackers must control only ONE point in the sector to capture the zone.

To give defenders some chances to win:

  • assymetrical numbers of players (8 attackers vs 12 defenders)
  • terrain which favours defence - for example - whole map is a hill which attackers must climb on
  • longer time of cap than in assault

Correct me if im wrong, but isn’t the breakthrough pretty much already in-game ?

Attackers get 1000 tickets and must capture certain sector and are pushed back each time certain control point is captured, your suggestion is attack - defense but it revolves around singular capturing point, right ?

well, op is asking to have an invasion gamemode where defenders are playing like hunters in a competition of turkey shooter and massively outnumber the prays.

aka, somehow outnumbering attackers and have their map on their advantage, infinite tickets, and even longer cap for assaulters.

a defender heavens.

needless to say, no.

Confrontation is close enough to what you are even trying to suggest but does it better.

outside the fact that there should be more capture point instead of 5 and lock zone should take a while more to allow attackers to reach the objective, or defenders to reach the objective.

Capturing only one point is much easier than holding 2 at the same time :rofl:

and i would like to remind you that your self lost several times in invasions when attempting to " capture one objective ".

you seem to somehow don’t even see the massive advantage defenders already have.
and you want to give them even more advantages :skull:

Because you have only one objective to choose.

In current state of the game attackers win more than defenders.

Even assault is easy now.

we were talking about invasion though.

you claim that assaulting is easier, yet when a good defense ( which ,i would like to repeat, it’s not that hard ) most of the time don’t even allow you to take one objective. or past the middle one.

when talking about the assault mode on it’s own, it can be overthrown as long you place some rally in proximity and defend it, or attack it.

but defenders has once again infinite tickets.

except, defenders have infinite tickets. and can just win a war of attrition against the enemies.

almost as attacking in reverse.

you either throw your self at the enemy, spawn camp, or get pushed back so miserably that you are pay attention somewhere else.

Yes, it is an easier version of assault mode.

what you described it’s exactly what invasion does, but 100 times easier than the default one for defenders.

Since when you have multiple objectives in one sector in invasion mode ?

you can’t be seriously that naive and think that invasion only has one objective… right?

because matter of fact, each invasion has different locations for each sector.

So what ? If attackers need to capture only that one which is picked randomly by game and the other is unimportant.

so you just wanted to make a breakthrough similar in Day Of Infamy style.

where there are more than one objective active at a time, and if captured would make attackers proceed to the next sector.

noble, but there are a couple of issues with it, might not be really end up being enjoyable.

and now that i think about it, we could, and perhaps, should improve assault instead.

for example, mix it with confrontation.

if you capture one objective, it will be locked for defenders and attackers and defenders must verge on the second.

if the attackers do not capture in time the point, they will have to recapture the first point that they got earlier.

this way, it both leaves pressure from one point, and focus on the second too.

without making it too much unfair for assaulters and make it somewhat balanced for defenders.

this is just reverse assault and has all bad points of it. where attackers have to attack both points and hold in assault, here defenders must defend all 2-3 points without losing any one.

what made defending easy in assault is what will make attacking in this one easy even with terrain and number advantage.

This mode may sound interesting, but a player on the defensive side, they can easily fall into a situation like such:

They either face a large number of enemies attacking them with less help from their teammates, or there are no enemies attacking them at all.

Also, this mode has low XP efficiency for defenders. Of course, there are too many inefficient modes in XP (which is why I only like invasion mode), so I don’t mind adding such new mode.
