In “Isonzo” you can destroy barbed wire with a barbed wire cutter. I would also like to see this feature in Enlisted with an engineer - insted of fully destroy it cut a path through
Im open to this idea however what about when noobs put barbed wire in windows or just completely cover the floor in it?
I think those sorts of actions should be prevented.
Where I do like your idea is in the Pacific for example where certain trenches have generated barbed wire and strangely its often the defenders having to cross this in order to get to the point they are defending. So cutting a hole would be a good idea.
Likewise with fences in maps such as the Ardennes/Bulge where normally you have to locate generated gaps in the wire which is annoying and pointless.
game is too fast
look at medic class
how useless it is.
most people dont destroy barbwires when they see them
This has been suggested before and I dislike it if that’s the only way to destroy wire.
If it’s not the only way to destroy wire but just a way to cut a path then I don’t think anyone would bother.
Wire cutters were not only distributed to Engineers and making it yet another item to purchase and carry doesn’t add much value to gameplay.
I dont mind it as a feature (yet another feature that cant be fully realised until there is a realistic battle mode…like digging and repairing)
But I think it should be tied to an exisitng item. Tool Kit makes sense
Why do you consider putting barbed wire in a window a “NOOB” move?
Oh I dunno, maybe because it prevents your own team from entering or exiting their own point??
Maybe because it prevents your own team from shooting effectively from said window?
Maybe because theres various other places one could build barbed wire that would be far more helpful and not just a hindrance to one’s own team?
Maybe one could even spend that time building actually helpful things like ammo boxes and rallypoints?
“Oh I dunno, maybe because it prevents your own team from entering or exiting their own point??”
That’s why you only put barbed wire (and AP Mines) on the enemy side of the building—and the flanks—and leave the friendly side of the building wide open—except for AP mines.
“Maybe because it prevents your own team from shooting effectively from said window?”
There are usually plenty of other positions to fire from other than first floor windows. Firing from these positions only puts your own life at greater risk.
“Maybe because theres various other places one could build barbed wire that would be far more helpful and not just a hindrance to one’s own team?”
Actually, there aren’t—in most cases. This is the solution, as stated above: That’s why you only put barbed wire (and AP Mines) on the enemy side of the building—and the flanks—and leave the friendly side of the building wide open.
“Maybe one could even spend that time building actually helpful things like ammo boxes and rallypoints?”
These are the first things I build: Rally points & ammo boxes, because they are the most important. Next, are either dropping AP mines at strategic points or building barbed wire/sandbags on the enemy side of the building to keep them out (or, at least slow them down since “time” is also a resource that you can deplete from your enemy). These actions also give your teammates (who should be spread around the cap point) a better chance of shooting the enemy while they’re trying to break down your fortifications.
it’s abstract to discuss in this format without, for example, picking apart a video.
The reality is, in my opinion, that barbed wire on a point you’re defending is very often harmful. If done thoughtfully (block some frontal exits but leave team approach open) it can be good. Too many people get carried away and build a fortress out of CP’s. If you build a fortress around yourself then you are the one left to defend it.
People just need to learn, the meta for destroying defences is explosive packs, you chuck that into a room with a barbed wire carpet, and that wire carpet will just disappear.
But I completely agree I do want a longer game mode in this similar to a match in like Post Scriptum/Squad 44 where you can actually take advantage of shovels and other cool mechanics that have to be ignored because the match is just too fast
Yeah my meta for building atm is,
-
Rallypoint about 50ms away tucked in somewhere, maybe a sandabg to cover it if it isnt a great position.
-
Sandbags in the Windows with a second sandbag behind on the floor so you can still shoot out but the enemy cant climb in.
-
Ammo Box/boxes
-
Barbed wire where I can reach to without being killed, I like to place it in front and behind sandbags in doorways so the enemy cant effectively use the sandbag and if they do vault over they just into more wire.
-
Whatever is left after that, maybe a HMG/AA gun/AT gun in cheeky position
i would not trade an explosive pack for a grenade
so i have to get close and press J to destroye enemy defenses.
A healthy mix of explosives is what I rock, Molotov’s, explosive packs and frags are king, anyone without EP’s gets a TNT charge instead. But really EPs are kinda slept on, they are a bit more niche sure, but you can clear a hole in any defence with them and if you cook them they OHK any tank.
Honestly I think EPs need their tank damage nerfed, unless they are on the roof or engine deck they shouldnt be killing tanks, just blowing off tracks and maybe damaging barrels.
if DF give us another equipment slot, then yeah.
not blame the player, blame the game. I don’t do that inside the window but behind it. so if players jump in, most of them are slow down by the barbed wire and I enjoy a lot of construction points. why? because I can and because DF give all players that feature.
protect your rallypoint with a AP mine. if not players like me from the enemy team doing that for you and next teammate of yours ill not enjoy spawning there
I never talked about that this should be the only way. but DF could add a feature to destroy it on multiple ways and that could be one of them.
thats what large back pack is for
All my engineers have 3x health pack and 1x tool kit
It literally takes 3 seconds to destroy barbwire, even with a standard soldier. I don’t think it needs any buffs/changes.
ofc it need changes. you are standing there and destroying it with what? magic hands? at least it needs a good animation.
