Introduction
One interesting weapon that I’d like to see come to the game potentially as tech tree or as an mini-event is the German MG81 machine gun.
I see that this gun is pretty unknown and unrecognised, as seen in games such as Call Of Duty: WW2.
What I find surprising is how light it was for a machine gun.
It weighs 6.5kg or 14 lbs in total.
Anyway, lets get through the history and specifications of this gun.
Background
It entered production in 1940-1945, developed by Mauser, based on the successful MG34. It was originally intended for aircraft use however, it was also commonly used by infantry units, Luftwaffe anti air squads, and Volkssturm, as seen in the photo below.
Specifications
Now onto the specs.
This multi-purpose machine gun weighed 6.5 KG (or 14lbs).
It had 1700 to 1800 RPM for the rate of fire.
So no Darkflow. No lowering fire rates for weapons as like what you did to the MG42, you cheeky individuals.
It also featured a Bipod, along with an anti air sight (sometimes).
150 Round Belt.
So darkflow again, but more serious this time. Don’t lower the ammo count to 50… I know its tempting.
And it contained 7.92x57mm Mauser ammunition.
Main Concerns
Now my main concerns is that the ammo feed since this gun is only belt-fed. I know about the conders MG, but I just don’t know how to properly picture it.
MG81Z
The MG81Z is pretty much just a normal MG81 but a twined variant of it.
This could be used as a deployable machine gun nest for a unique machine gunner squad for engineers within it to build.
Pretty much nothing special. Just connected to each other, It could also be used as anti air.
Conclusion
Nothing really.
Just a potential weapon that could be added into the game as a new squad maybe, or tech tree, yadda yadda yadda, you get the point.
