French equipment is interesting because it has potential for both Allies and Axis. Though I will say that currently French content should be given to Germany

Free France deserves to be a full subfaction.
Just waiting for that to be the case for British Commonwealth and Italy first…

If any subfactions need to be fleshed out first it absolutely must be Britain and Italy. Sure France is interesting but they’re not really what most would consider even a faction since they were occupied and supplied by the Allies. Honestly Allies France is more fitting as some premium and event squads. Of coarse unless if we were to get 1940 campaigns then that’s different
It would be a sick joke if we got a France faction before Britain
I don’t really care about who supplied who with equipment, I just want people to be able to play whatever they want to play as.
If they fought in the war and specificly fought on any current map, great, that should at least be a playable sub-faction.
Free French
Free Poland
Romania
Hungary
British India (part of a greater Commonwealth subfaction)
China
And many others
Not all added at the same time, but a slow trickle, a new subfaction option every year or so on top of regular updates would be nice.

My point is the US/UK does not have a traditional BR2 rifle, the M1 while great is a carbine and thus like a slow firing smg. The french gun was the first production SA I could think of to fit. One hands of Germany 9/10 this of Europe could fill Germany already stuffed arsenal. Stop talking about a French, Chinese exec subtraction until UK Italy are spun off. At this rate it will be five to ten years before we see France as a faction. Second just provide another suitable gun if you want to save the gun for a French Fantasy.

I can lay out the hopes I have of the game. Yes, finish the Commonwealth first, but that does not mean we can’t also look at the horizon.

That’s why I’ve suggested
France+Poland+Netherlands+Belgium in the one faction.
On their own they may not be viable but together theres more than enough tech for a really solid tech tree.
It is true that later in the war they relied on other country’s tech. However recall that in BR IV for example even major factions like USA only have (or rather had) 1 rifle, 1 LMG and 1 or 2 tanks.
I believe France-Poland-Netherlands-Belgium could easily fill up BR I-III.
If it was me Id stop there but unfortunately DF likes to go higher.
Then I would simply point to Japan and while I hate prototypes its not as if there isnt precedent (again look to major factions, the T20 and Hyde werent ‘real’ weapons either).
I am strongly against ignoring heaps of potential tech just cause BR V might be a tad weak. We’ve seen from other posts there were actually a surprising number of french and polish weapons we dont know about.
Including France AND Poland AND the Netherlands also means that this faction could fight everywhere, including with USA-UK in the Pacific as the Dutch and potentially queuing alongside the USSR as Polish.
That could be a good benefit of the faction the ability to queue with either major Allied faction.

I also agree with separate UK+Commonwealth and Italy (plus Minor Axis Nations) factions.
I hear the argument about split playerbase but I believe separating the factions and creating new sub factions will revitalise the game and encourage new players.
The fact that USA and UK are together means we are missing so much standard British tech. We are also ignoring over half of the Second World War in terms of maps/theatres.
Eg Battle for France, Greece, Yugoslavia, New Guinea, Singapore-Malaya, Dutch East Indies, Libya, Egypt, Syria-Lebanon, Market Garden, Norway to name but a few.

Why cant French weapons and uniforms be in the regular tech tree? Free French forces came ashore at D Day for example. Free French also fought in Tunisia.
The last thing we need is the China situation where we have these event-premium squads yet no where that they actually make sense aside from maybe that one Burma map.
I do agree @OggeKing with all those suggestions. Id include Commonwealth with UK since they largely used the same weapons and by combining UK and all the Commonwealth nations one ensures a fully fleshed out tech tree.
Id also include Minor Axis Nations like Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and Finland with Italy for the same reasons.

Well, since level three has the M1 Garand, DF can always drop the Winchester 1907 to level two.
