A lot of people like the M1 Carbine, and that’s fine.
A lot of people say it’s perfectly capable, and that’s fine too.
However, when comparing to its contemporaries from other nations, it seriously falls behind. Yes, I am aware that it fulfils a different role than the others, but this is what I hope to fix.
By introducing a new BR II semi auto for the Allies. Japan has two, so I don’t see the issue here. I have two suggestions, but if there any others, I would welcome them as well. They just have to have a 5 round magazine and a cartridge capable of producing 11.5+ damage.
Suggestion I: Winchester Model 1905
M1905 with 5 round box mag.
This is an early type semi auto that fits the bill. Even though it stopped production by the 1920s, it went on to inspire the M1 Carbine and even had the same action, which is what I thought was cool. Even cooler is both this one and the other gun have detachable box mags
Suggestion II: Winchester Model 1907
M1907 with 5 round box mag.
Yes, I know, there’s already one in game. But that’s the point. All dark flow has to do is model a 5-round mag, maybe nerf it a touch (although it’d be on par with the Fedorov so maybe not), and then they’re golden. Even better is that these were actively produced until 1957 and were used by police and coast guard too (I think), which makes them a better choice.
So yeah, those are my two suggestions, and if anyone else knows any different self-loading rifles, leave them down below.
I hope that isn’t fully upgraded, otherwise…10.5 damage isn’t particularly great (that’s personally what I would buff the M1 Carbine to, but fully upgraded).
If buffing the M1907 upsets anyone, I have found potentially a cooler gun (which is more realistic too). It was made in larger quantities (80,000+ vs the <50,000 M1907s) and fired a larger and more powerful round (.35 Remington or .300 Savage), which was more comparable to military rounds of the era instead of the more intermediate-like .35 and .351 Winchester Self Loading.
In my opinion, it’s much cooler looking and fits the bill better. A larger cartridge, more readily available in real life and it doesn’t require tinkering around with weapons (which somehow angers a lot of people on the forum). Only issue is, darkflow will need to model a new gun, and it better not end up a bp or event weapon or so help me.
I’m not against an M1 Carbine buff (in fact I still want one to occur), however, I feel this is also a nice addition as it allows for two different play styles. Namely the spray and pray, low damage type and the harder hitting, more accurate type that the other nations have but the allies don’t.
